Apparently, the location of your photos is embedded in the pictures and can be a security threat to your family.

Geotracking. It's automatically turned on for your convenience of course! Android has a little app called LBE Privacy Guard that you can install to remove not just the camera's ability to access the GPS, but you can change permissions for all your apps, including system apps. It might be difficult for the novice at first, but it's well worth the time to learn it if you insist on using a smartphone....

Lol. I had to do a double take because there is a striking resemblance to my mother. However, these days you would not catch her w/ a beer or shine.

It is kinda scary, cuz one can take the gps cords plug it into google maps and get a picture of their front door, address and everything else. So yeah, something like that could happen I suppose.

Yup,, my wife saw this on Facebook before I saw this thread,, we had just been talking about it..

Add in Prism, and it is a whole lot more nefarious. :(

That's not a bad idea for an app. Have something running that scans every outbound photo and scrub the EXIF and other data.

Here is a tool for stripping/cleaning/removing all GPS, EXIF, etc metadata from JPG/JPEG/JFIF & PNG files. The image quality IS NOT AFFECTED. Just transfer your pics to your PC, clean and swap back. Windows only.

After reviewing tens of thousands of photos, The #1 thing that people take pictures with their phone with gps coords embedded are vehicles. The #2? Guns! I never would have suspected that gun photos would be nearly the most common type of photo on the internet with gps embedded in them.

Yeah, just wait until you hear about the Jekyll and Hyde Malware (http://it.slashdot.org/story/13/08/19/1526254/jekyll-test-attack-sneaks-through-apple-app-store-wreaks-havoc) for phones...

I wonder if you can remove the GPS chip from an iPhone. You'd obviously void any warranty, but I wonder if the phone will still work without it.

Anyway, even without GPS they can still track you using cell towers and wifi.

That's why the only way to get past this is either have no phone, or use a one without wifi or gps and registered using a fake ID (can't buy a simcard in Spain without ID) like I have been doing for the past year.
