Sunday noon Pacific time, listen online:
http://bobzadek.com/

I've listened to this show several times - it's a SF-based libertarian show on an actual radio station and it's very good and not hard to call in to (I've done it a few times - most well known guests I spoke to were Stossel and Nick Gillespie).

Show topic description:

8/11 - Is The Media Weakening Democracy? - Thomas Jefferson famously commented that given the choice between a government without newspapers and newspapers without government, he’d prefer the latter. The Founders felt freedom of speech to be so important that was embodied as the first of the Bill of Rights amendments to the Constitution. Ten years later, John Adams, whose love of America was second to none, signed the Sedition Act, which criminalized any public criticism of him or the Congress. Tension between government and a free press has never gone away. What is the role of the media in democratic life today? Is it truly, as Edmund Burke observed the “Fourth Estate,” having almost as much influence as elected officials? Has the consolidation of media into a few mega-corporations been compromised objectivity? Did objectivity ever even exist? Ben Swan, award willing journalist, blogger, new anchor and television host will give his insider views on the controversial role of the media in public life today. Listen live on Sunday at noon (Pacific Time) - http://www.iheart.com/live/297/?autoplay=true or 910 AM in SF Bay Area Calls - 800-345-5639 Watch Live -http://cmcm.tv/livecommunity on Marin 26 TV (Marin County, CA) Podcasts - www.bobzadek.com and the Stitcher radio app available in the iTunes store and through Google Play Email - bob@bobzadek.com

Is The Media Weakening Democracy? ...

Democracy is, after all, Mob Rule and the media knows how to herd the cattle to a particular side. The Media, in this case, is exercising the power of Democracy.
