I find the last sentence rather amazing; not only does CNN perceive service to voters as something that hinges on their ability to participate in debates, but that without their participation it's the "ultimate disservice."

I wish a group like the League of Woman Voters would host the debates again, not the "Commission on Presidential Debates", consisting of the former heads of the DNC and RNC.

Years back the duopoly colluded and ganged up on the League, attempting to impose all kinds of ridiculous restrictions, until the League in good conscious could no longer attach their name to the farce.

If a candidate is on enough ballots as to be constitutionally eligible to be elected president, that should be the threshold for inclusions. That is an incredibly high threshold that only 1 or 2 alternative candidates reach each cycle. The criteria the "Commission" set up is arbitrary and easily manipulated by the establishment.
