Pre-Emptive Strike! Set the Record Straight Now or Lose in 2016!

Attention, Liberty and Truth Lovers:

I'd like to create a website to serve as a media watchdog. Basically, we're 3 years before 2016, and the media is already misrepresenting many libertarian philosophies held by Rand Paul and others who threaten the power of the Washington and Media elite.

The website would ideally clarify stances and media misinformation, BUT--and here's the kicker--it would automatically bombard the media with emails from all of our petition signers whenever the media spreads false information. In other words, if a pundit casually calls Rand an isolationist instead of a non-interventionist, both the pundit and the show that hosted him will get an automatically-generated email from every single member of our community that corrects the media and the show and explains to them the reason for their error.

With so many emails coming from so many people every time the media repeats over and over again information we know to be incorrect, we are more likely to be heard and more likely to convince the media to report with more accuracy--if for no other reason than simply to control the perpetual gush of corrections to their inbox.

I don't really know how to construct the technicalities of the above, so any help from those with the appropriate skill-set and motivation would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have time to do anything with it these days. If you want, I will add you as an administrator and you can manage it as you like. You could focus on building subscribers to the site and simply create a new post every time you see an actionable item.

You really have to go after the money if you want results and that means going to the advertisers that sponsor the bullshit.

Thanks, but I'm not really proposing a boycott of media or of media sponsors. I'm also not labeling the media as "bad" as I tend to see them as wildly insular and ignorant (though some might label that as "bad").

I believe the media misunderstands libertarian because they have no regular contact with them; and they misunderstand the "mainstream" because their nearby associates all come from a similar ilk with a similar mindset which helps warp their perspective and causes them to wrongly label themselves as the majority and divergent opinions as radical.

I believe a boycott would accomplish little as there aren't sufficient media alternatives and also because a boycott is not sufficiently measurable in either its effort or its results.

This new website would be strictly an effort to set the record straight by educating the media when they err. However, because lone emails by viewers can be easily disregarded as mistaken (after all, in the "educated" media's minds how could an occasional viewer know more than all their media "experts" who discuss these things day and night), this website seeks to use effective organization of a large group to highlight a problem each and every time it occurs in order to gently and slowly educate the media before we are again wrongly mislabeled during the next election cycle.

If a media person gets 300+ emails every time s/he calls Rand an isolationist, they will begin to take more care in their word choice and/or begin to research the differences in isolationism vs non-interventionism. It will be a regular bombardment that clutters their inbox every time they make such an error. And every time we convince even just one media personality to adjust their word choice, that will be one more person helping break the groupthink mentality that creates a pervasive media atmosphere where they wrongly/ignorantly think isolationism and non-interventionism are one and the same.

Call Rand Paul a Constitutionalist, not a libertarian.Well, as you quoted, I described just some of the philosophies of Rand, so the qualifier was meant as a description of those philosophies, some of which are libertarian, others of which are conservative, all of which are constitutional.

But me saying "the media is already misrepresenting many constitutional philosophies held by Rand Paul" wouldn't have been very clear in highlighting which of his constitutional philosophies are being misrepresented. They aren't misrepresenting his fiscal conservatism. So, it feels like your being needlessly nitpicky while encouraging me to be less specific in my meaning.

But sure, I'll make sure we call him whatever he most wants to be called.
