Thirteen Agents 'Armed To The Teeth' Raid No-Kill Animal Shelter & Kill Rescued Baby Deer One Day Before It Was To Be Transferred To Wildlife Reserve (http://www.informationliberation.com/?id=44594)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnXQ4CiJpoM

Nine Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources agents and four sheriff's deputies "armed to the teeth" raided a no-kill animal shelter and euthanized a rehabilitated baby deer one day before it was scheduled to be transferred to a wildlife reserve in Illinois, WISN reports.

The police staked out the Society of St. Francis animal shelter after receiving two anonymous tips the baby deer was being housed at the shelter "without a permit."

The police took aerial surveillance photos of the shelter and organized an armed raid, with a warrant, on the shelter after they spotted the deer on the premises.

The officers say they tranquilized the deer after capturing it and then euthanized it in accordance with their "policy."

Ray Schulze, who worked at the shelter, was outraged and cried when he saw little baby deer "Giggles," named such because she made noises which sounded like laughter, being dragged out in a "body bag."

Giggles was scheduled to be moved to a wildlife reserve in Illinois the next day, Ray said.

When asked why they didn't bother to simply give the shelter a phone call rather than organize a costly huge armed raid on the facility, Department of Natural Resources Supervisor Jennifer Niemeyer responded that they wouldn't give prior alert in a "drug bust," so why should they have tipped anyone off to their raid for a deer?

"If a sheriff's department is going in to do a search warrant on a drug bust, they don't call them and ask them to voluntarily surrender their marijuana or whatever drug that they have before they show up," Niemeyer said.

This was not a drug bust, this was a raid for a baby deer. This was not an armed compound but a no-kill animal shelter. This was an outrageously disproportionate and entirely unnecessary show of force, unfortunately poor baby "Giggles" paid for it with her life.

Cindy Schultz, the president of the shelter, said she intends to file suit against the DNR over the raid, which was performed "without even a court hearing," she says it was "way over the top for a little tiny baby deer."

This is a complete outrage and a true showing of the police state, however I bet more people get upset about this as opposed to the 22 year old homeless man who was executed at a restaurant.

Both instances enrage me and both make me really sad.

This is why I don't like blind following of 'the rule of law'. There are too many examples of blindly following the law that ended up in genocide or any other crime against humanity. I rest my case.

First thought: I'm looking at a bully wearing a smile. Maybe even thinks good intentions give justification for being a thug.
Probably thinks well.... I'm The People's Thug as much as a Mafia guy thinks they protect the community just because it's their turf.

I wonder if people like this can ever be woken up?

Don't see the problem with that. Cops have been murdering humans for so long, it doesn't register on the radar of most, most people will just try to excuse it away as somehow being "justified."

However, seeing harmless animals be killed (like all the questionable dog shootings, etc) , well, maybe that will wake people up to reality and get them to thinking about many other issues too (like questionable shootings of two-legged targets).

Ellie May Clampett would be facing life without parole these days...provided that the DNR of Beverly Hills doesn't just shoot her on sight. She's armed, you know, and you can't take chances.

On that note, aren't you glad that we can all be safe from this very obviously dangerous deer? This is the white house watching eagerly as the 13 brave soldiers risk their lives by entering a religious, no-kill animal shelter run by elderly people to kill Bambi.

Joking aside, though, this really outrages me. I think people respond more to these stories than those of humans being killed because animals are unquestionably innocent. With humans, there's always two sides to the story, and I'm sure there's some idiots out there who even justify the murder of children. Animals, however, especially fawns, are innocent creatures, and using force against them will always prompt public outcry.

you think of all animals as fawns, when some would see you as food.
i don't know about innocent creatures. if you mean innocent because they are not considered superior enough to hold property/rights... i guess.
but a shark chomping on your leg is guilty of aggressing, even if his excuse is- he thought you were a seal.

No, I don't think of all animals as fawns. That must've come out wrong. However, what I'm saying is that animals such as fawns are viewed by people as wholly innocent. Sharks typically have a bad reputation, but even whenever they are killed, it seems that there's some form of outcry. It's not like when 'Jaws' hit theaters and everyone and their brother wanted to go kill a shark anymore.

The point I was trying to make was that anytime a cop wrongfully shoots a human being, someone out there will always say, "Well, he must have been doing something wrong!" You can't say that about a baby deer, dogs that are fenced in or chained up, or any other animal that the police kill. Was the baby deer plotting to sell drugs? Was it going to chomp on your leg like a pit bull? Was it going to walk out of that shelter with an AK-47 and spray bullets over the populace? If anyone answers 'yes' to any of these questions, they're a moron. A baby deer has no intention to harm anyone.

Lots of people are. My grandpa has a neighbor who calls the cops on everyone for everything imaginable! There's one lady he harasses constantly. He calls the cops on her if her kids leave their bikes laying in the yard with no kickstand! He leaves notes on her door and everything. I changed the cat litter at my grandpa's house and set the garbage out so the truck could take it the next morning and he called the cops to say that the garbage smelled like cat pee. My 92-year-old grandfather must be running a meth lab!

Some people are jerks and idiots and get off on using the cops as their own bully.

Had a neighbor not quite that bad except for being a rabid leftist. Every time I spotted her in her back yard, I'd drag out about a half dozen ARs for weapons cleaning.

This is not as you see it. With a human, their could always be some evil lurking beneath. Not so with a baby dear. It was simply an unjustified killing. And TBTB can not spin it any other way. So they fall back on policy but no sane individual wants to hear such nonsense.

How unfortunate that fascists have successfully co-opted the term "leftist". :( Liberty and libertarianism are radical leftist ideas.

If any of you believe in the theory of evolution, but you have a problem with the baby deer being killed, then you are not being consistent with evolutionism. Those agents who killed the deer are just "agents" of natural selection, so the result was simply a survival of the fittest. It's not like they could help killing that deer, given the random, electrochemical processes of their brains. Just as a tornado rips through a town and destroys everything in sight, so government agents kill baby deer on sight. There is no "morality" about it. Be consistent.

Thank Goodness the officers came in with their "Drug Raid" like SWAT team to eradicate this:

The fact someone compared this raid to a DRUG bust. Is so fucking ridiculous, it's beyond absurd.

It just goes to show you....The MILITARIZED POLICE FORCE does not care if they are coming to get you for DRUGS, BAMBI, PARKING TICKETS, Or OVERDUE LIBRARY BOOKS.

They are coming FOR ANY REASON, and will use COMBAT STYLE FORCE and they get a kick out of seeing body bags.
