In a KERA Radio interview this week, investigative reporter Radley Balko provides an informative overview of the the history of police SWAT teams in the United States. Balko addresses factors that have contributed to the rise of SWAT including the war on drugs, civil asset forfeiture, joint task forces, and the providing of US government grants and surplus military equipment to state and local police.

Listen to the interview here. http://www.kera.org/2013/07/23/the-militarization-of-americas-police-forces/

A good supplement to the interview is Balko's June 10 Huffington Post article that provides "a quick rundown of where and how [President Barack] Obama's policies have perpetuated the garrison state."

The solution to this will not come from attacking the idiots on the street, they don their little black costumes at the behest of truly evil men.

The only way to kill this serpent is to cut off its head and that head consists of politicians/judges and lobbyists and their propaganda arm the MSM.

Imagine the publics response if Bradly Manning were portrayed as a hero by the MSM and all the lawbreakers he exposed were publically put on trial like George Zimmerman..

The citizenry have been played like a fiddle for decades but the veil is slipping, government is the problem, not the solution.

The mindless drones in swat gear could easily be turned on their masters with public support...
