Surprising.

Maybe privacy isn’t obsolete after all…This week, Michigan Republican Rep. Justin Amash introduced an amendment to a defense spending bill that would have ended the National Security Agency’s collection of all Americans’ phone records. Opponents claimed it would undermine our security, and it failed to pass. But it still marked a sea change. As recently as last year, attempts even to rein in federal surveillance of Americans didn’t have a prayer. But this amendment to kill the program entirely, lost by just 12 votes. For once, hundreds of Republicans and Democrats defied their party leaders and joined together to say, “Enough.” They say the Washington elites claim it’s necessary and legal. But all they hear from their constituents is that all that data-gathering on innocent citizens is ineffective, unconstitutional, and frankly, downright scary. No, the amendment didn’t pass. But the government has finally been put on notice by the people: you are NOT on our Friends and Family Plan.

Have to give Huck thumbs up for that. That last line is great.

Huck is coming over. He strongly praised Rand's filibuster and also argued for more diplomacy with Iran.

I'd rather see him as the face of the religious right than Santorum.
