National women's groups are stepping up their efforts in the New York City mayors race to support City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and denounce former Congressman Anthony Weiner for his lewd online behavior.

The women's political group EMILY's List is sending out an e-mail to supporters Friday saying "New Yorkers deserve better than the circus their mayoral race has turned into." The e-mail, written by communications director Jess McIntosh, was sent under the subject line "I don't want to talk about Carlos Danger" - a reference to the pseudonym Weiner allegedly used for some of his on-line trysts.

What was one of Big Brother's "youth groups"?

It's not anti-women. If you're doing so without the consent of other women in your life, it's shady, and suggests you can't be trusted with your own personal relationships. If you can't be trusted with personal relationships that are supposed to matter, I don't see why anyone should trust you in public relationships.

If he were doing this with his wife's consent, I'd not hold it against him.

People aren't somehow more justified in their aggressions against me because I have not ever pulled a lever on a machine to indicate an overlord preference.

ETA: Voting does nothing. The only thing it accomplishes is giving the voter (and the public at large) the illusion of control, so they don't get pissed off and riot (as they should be). Voting is designed to placate the voter... not to give the voter any kind of "voice" or "participation" in "the system"

Example: 4 people are deciding what to do. 3 people want to do X, the 4th wants to do Y. The 4th is fairly adamant about doing Y, and instead of the other 3 people engaging in a debate with him to determine the best idea, they just say "let's take a vote", even though they already know the outcome. They take a vote just to shut him up. The act of voting is nothing but a sign of compliance.

This is a poor format to show the decision matrix, but the point is there is not a path where your decision to vote increases the probability of a negative outcome, and your vote increases the probability of a positive outcome.

I am a woman, and I am offended because Anthony Weiner wants all women to see his wiener pictures; not just his various victims.
