Funeral for an officers best friend: Decorated K-9 laid to rest with full ceremonial honors as his emotional handler proudly looks on

By James Nye

It was a funeral for a friend and fellow officer, as Eron the retired K-9 was buried on Thursday with a full guard of honor.

Fellow K-9's and their handlers lined a funeral route at Precious Pets Cemetery, Spencer in Oklahoma to lay to rest their decorated former colleague.

The trained bomb detection specialist's was also employed as a tracker - and one of his final duties as a police dog was to track a hit and run suspect in Eastern Oklahoma County.

Deputy Eron's two handlers Sergeant Kyle Kilgore and Deputy Clyde Carter attended the emotional service which saw a brief service read and then a ceremonial flag folded by officers, ready to be placed into his open coffin.

His fellow K-9's then approached his coffin and paid their respects one by one as the Oklahoma County Sheriff's department laid to rest the popular dog.

As the American folded American flag was handed to Deputy Carter, he found it hard to contain his emotions at losing his partner who also captured an assault suspect and found a weapon during his career.

Eron joined the Oklahoma County sheriff's staff in January 2004 and retired in March 2012.

He died on Monday after suffering hip dysplasia and arthritis at the age of 11 and his service was held at 10.30 a.m. after a half-hour viewing.

According to Fox 25, before he fell ill, Eron enjoyed nothing more than chewing on plastic water bottles and would tear soccer balls to shreds given to him by other officers.

The much-loved dog was laid to rest with his favorite chew toy - a 4X4 piece of wood.

Love the cop on the left... probably texting his wife "why the fuck am I at a dog funeral?" and thinking "isn't there some door I could unwarrantably bust down or check point I could be doing instead?"

No guys but seriously...

You are being stuck with DEBT, INFLATION, and OPPRESSION through THEFT of your labors/taxes/fees for this bullshit. How sick is it these clowns built a POLICE golf cart with POLICE LIGHTS, POLICE STICKERS, POLICE LICENSE PLATE, Bumber guard, and fucking KNOBBY TIRES! The propaganda spending all that time sticking those flags stuck in the ground 3 feet apart... you paid for that too! What's with the PET covers over the motorcycle headlights? Somewhere in this country Janet Napolitano is masturbating to this.

Has anyone read the comments? Sounds like the Cops Fusion centers are trolling... you pay for that too

I wonder if they do this for all the K9s they "forget" and leave in hot vehicles to die? Or the ones they kick to death during "training" ? Or the ones that get uppity and turn on their abusers, so they "have" to be shot ?

This is all just more LEO "look at us and how we care" attention whoring.

We might laugh at ourselves somewhat...

but isn't this the way we always buried our pets when we were kids?

This does seem like so much more. This ends a lifelong working relationship. Seems a fitting way to bring it to and end.

I wish I could have afforded the expense of having such a funeral for my 12 year old Doberman. He was the best friend I've ever had.

I payed for all of my pets funerals, and so should the cops.

Just a hunch, but if the burden of cost was on them personaly, they would have just hucked him in a river or something not caring enough to even pick up a shovel.

This goes here.

An on-duty Florida Highway Patrol trooper who killed a grandmother in a 90 mph collision has had his case dismissed after the officer who gave him the citations missed his trial.

A newly-released video of Detrick McClellan's court hearing shows how troopers in the court room laughed as a distracted judge dismissed the case, before they shook the officer's hand.

When the lawyer asked Cross if he would agree to dismiss the citations, he said: 'Why not? I'm easy to please,' as laughter echoed throughout the courtroom.
Video at link.

Every single one, probably.

I would love to see the report on how much money could possibly be wasted on a dog funeral.

Though isn't it they way all pet burials should be at least in our dreams.

Think of the children.

It's nice to see something so grand in real life.

Says all that needs to be said.

When the cops blow your dog away, they usually don't pay for the vet bills.

Or they "dispose" of the carcass without your consent.

Look at it from the other perspective- they give police humans the same honors as police dogs.

If you do kill a police human, it is the same as killing a police dog. I think 1 or 2 may have even gotten the death penalty from it.

Those other police dogs should have been allowed to say farewell by giving a 21 leg (lift) salute to their fellow officer ...to properly mark the occasion.
