Is it like Superman from 1978?

The You Tube is set to be heard at a different frequency... makes me think of Lex Luthor in Superman from 1978. "This is Lex Luthor. Only one thing alive with less than four legs can hear this frequency, Superman, and that's you."

I can hear it till 20khz. The volume drops by then though.

But the relevant question is, what frequency response can your equipment produce? Digital amplification processing may clip at 20khz or lower. And what will your speakers produce?

Note: I used high quality headphones. Makes it easier.

I put this to a sound wave analyzer and while the higher pitches have lower amplitudes (so, of course you hear them faint), from 20kHz on, there is no amplitude. Tested again with a tone generator and it worked, so the conclusion is: the higher pitch is definitely not encoded on the video, even at the highest quality.

Way to go to the ones that said they could hear 20kHz and higher ;)

Timothy Miles 6 months ago

Actually most speakers can't play anything higher than 19 to 20 kHz. So even if you could hear 22kHz, you probably can't with your speakers.

I went to the web site: http://www.freemosquitoringtones.org/

I could hear up to 18 khz (24 and younger). I'm 35. And I have crappy speakers.

My dog (Bubbles) is also 13 and had surgery on one of her ears last December...she's literally deaf in that ear. I will miss my old girl, when she is gone. She had acl surgery on one leg when she was 7 and on the other leg when she was 10. A few months back she had some kind of cancer on her leg. Vet removed the hide, but no muscle fortunately and sewed her up. Seems okay for now.

I actually heard something tear in my ear once cutting aluminum with a circular. Seriously the worst noise imaginable. I used to weld galvanized studs a lot. Once in a while I would get a molten BB, known as welding spatter in my ear. It would make my ear ring like a gun was fired next to my ear. It hurt too. I got the tinnitus too. I guess i am so used to it, I don't notice it much anymore, unless i am thinking about it.

Common problem. I play guitar and listen to loud music. You will damage your hearing in specific frequencies in the mid to high range. It's also about sensitivity. If you damage your hearing in the voice range, in loud environments, lower and higher frequencies are not as damaged, and they drown out voices. You won't be able to understand people talking in a loud environment.
