Sen. Rand Paul didn’t miss a beat as he launched into a grilling of President Obama’s nominee for U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. It was a theme often sounded by his father, Rep. Ron Paul. If not anti-war, certainly anti-stupid-war and strongly opposed to foreign aid.

He certainly gave her his opinion. He could have drilled down a little further to see exactly what she thought that the Executive Branch could do without Congressional approval or declaration of war.

Grilling is part and parcel of democratic process.. however some reverence should also be observed in this case, her son is from one of respected holy land tribes :

This is probably first time I have watched Rand in a Congressional hearing, he is quick on his feet and pretty impressive negotiator/questioner. Looks like he is going places if he continues to polish his message.

One thing that would have made it even more impressive would have been if he had thrown in couple of zingers about cutting foreign aid to Israel citing their violations of Palstinians' human rights/occupation and of Egypt/Jordan citing their anti-democratic pro torture regimes (three largest perpetual welfare recepients of US aid) while Smantha long winded was harping on "human rights" bogus tales and diverting direct questions.
