View Full Version : The "Libtards"

I hate to generalize but wow, now I see why the term libtard came about. I decided to create a Huffpost account because the comment section on that website makes me want to puke. I figured I would post there, as here I feel like I am just preaching to the choir. Check out this conversation following an article about Bradley Manning. How do we win against this stupidity?!

It really doesn't matter if the information was valuable or not. It could have been recipes but if classified he broke the law and thus should be punished. In my book he is a traitor simply because he violated his clearance and released information that was classified.

In your book he is a traitor, but in REALITY he is a hero and true patriot. You know he took an oath to defend the Constitution and that is exactly what he did by exposing the truth.

Prominence, there is a vast difference in defending the Constitution and 'maligning it'. Manning has 'turned on the very citizens of the U.S., not just the mititary. He has violated a sacred trust, including yours, and you defend him. There is just no accounting for total ignorance.

William, what you have to remember is that folks like Prominence are smarter than the rest of us. They have to show us that we're their inferiors and one of the best ways to do that is to let us know that everything we believe it, everything we're part of, amounts to nothing as far as they're concerned. It's arrogance, narcissim and a sense of superiority that forces them to say things like that - jsut so you and I know our places.

I realize this and I feel that I still will need to respond to this arrogance that seems to have run rampant about the 'heroes'. I know my place, and I'm sure that you know yours - it ISN'T the place of 'Prominence' and/or his/her supporters. Thank God For That. But I will continue to respond to these people with truth, not their misguided and malicious interpretations of such. But thank you for your reponse. It's always nice to hear from honest and sane individuals.

I do not agree with your view and simply stated why. But yes lets resort to personal attacks since I apparently do not know my place.

You say Manning turned on U.S. citizens when it is the government that has turned on its citizens ala NDAA and declaring our nation a battlefield where we are all suspects and spied on. What happened to our god given inalienable rights as human beings codified in our Constitution?

Live on in your ignorance, Prominence, Assange, Manning, and Snowden, and most of South America love you for it. I bet you would receive a heroe's welcome in Venezuela!

Ignorance is a state of being uninformed (lack of knowledge). In ignorance is where many Americans were living before people like Assange, Manning, and Snowden contributed to the exact opposite, which is truth. “In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act.” George Orwell.

I am done posting there my head hurts.

You'll never hear a liberal using the words "constitution" or "patriot"...you only identify yourself as an enemy. Instead of presenting your own views for the typical koolaide responses, spend some time researching what liberal role models have said over the years in regards to privacy, whistle-blowing, and the surveillance state. Hillary, Chomsky, MLK, Obama, Pelosi, It's easy to find what you need by using google or brainyquotes.
an example:

A lack of transparency results in distrust and a deep sense of insecurity.
Dalai Lama

Dems only care about the Constitution when it benefits them. Most of them would like to rewrite it. They think its outmoded and the founders are just a bunch of old racist white guys. That being said the Bush Republicans have blood on their hands too.

It's really better to just ignore these people, I've descended into many an argument with many approaches and I have never convinced a single one of them. Delving into comment sections merely reduces my opinion of the people living in this country ever lower, without fail, every single time. Challenge them and it will devolve into them insulting you. Political discussions these days are usually little more sophisticated than flashing gang signs at the opposition in an effort to intimidate the others. There's no rationality going on here, my team is better than yours and I am smarter than you because I am on it.

If they defend Manning/Snowden/etc., they condemn Obama.

If it were Bush, they'd be going nuts about the Constitution and protecting whistleblowers.

Good point thanks! Even Obama has some great quotes from his 2008 campaign, but I hate to quote such a hypocrite.

Ever since I saw that article about people paid to troll forums, I figured I would use my Summer and free time to return the favor in defense of liberty. Everyone on the Internet cannot be paid, or that stone cold stupid, but the more comments I read the sadder I become. At least I can come here to see people actually thinking critically. It is true that common sense is not that common. It is hard for me to accept in this day an age with so much information at our fingertips that ignorance runs so rampant.

I'm surprised they're not deleting your comments. I do the same but on their facebook page. So far, I haven't had anything decent bite. Good for you though for trying. Definitely something to do if you have the patience to argue with brick walls. Maybe you might convert a few and I think that should be our target as well, not just converting conservatives but libs as well. Good luck in your new venture.

You ever see the 'liberal douche Garofolo' (http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/liberal-douche-garofalo) meme? It's hilarious, they sum up left wing hypocrisy better than anything I've seen before. Such as:

Or:

They really are a joke. It's mostly self-hating pathological altruist types. Since their beliefs stem from mental illness rather than critical thinking it's impossible to debate with them. They don't really accept the concept of objective truth. Conservatives can be pretty bad too but sometimes not as extreme as the so-called liberals.

Ugh, Seriously lame ad hominems and personal attacks are seriously lame. It's unfortunate that these sort of statists have become the norm of the democan party. The "official" faces of the republicrats aren't any better. This kind of nonsense is why a whole lot of people don't participate in political parties.

Yes I should be smarter than this, generalizing is not a good thing. I don't mean to polarize the left when there are Dems who support liberty, and also contributing to this left v. right is no good. An objective observer can clearly see that mainstream Dems/Reps are really the same. I was just venting. Definitely some neocons/conservatives are just as bad as liberals. McCain/Romney or Obama, people always talk about the lesser of two evils, but never make the connection that it is the same evil. Maybe one day, thankfully we have people like Ron Paul.

Bing-fucking-go.

Brilliant.

You know, in thinking about it, that was about where political "discussion" in the old German republic was, between the Communists and the National Socialists, circa 1928-1930.

Oh, we are in for a hell of a ride.

They are very good at manipulating the majority of people to support what they want them to support by doing their thinking for them. Their responses are typically paraphrased parrot responses. Their current hot topics: "Nothing to Hide, Nothing to Fear", and "All Guns should belong to the Govt Only because all citizens use all guns to kill each other".

In America, a minority undertakes to supply a number of ready made opinions for the use by the majority, who are thus relieved of the necessity of thinking for themselves. - Democracy in America

Sounds just like my favorite cousin from up north. She's not speaking to me anymore. Apparently she got offended because I was offended by one of her posts on facebook. Go figure. I don't have any hard feelings against her, I just wish she'd get her head on straight.

Better to disassociate with people like that as much as possible. What they crave is attention so don't give it to them.

I think the appropriate term here is sycophant. I could care less what happens to these people anymore, except insofar as their boobus nature endangers the rest of us. They're blind to the enemy in our midst. We all need our own Walden Pond, too bad that the only frontiers left are too inaccessible (space / deep underwater).
