I heard a interesting (but very bizarre) interview this morning on the way to work. Big John and Cisco (560 AM Chicago) were interviewing Robert Novak (a well know Sun Times Columnist).

They started by talking about Novaks claims that Huckabee was not a true conservative. One of the DJs then asked who Novak supported, and he gave some answer about his position is not one to endorse people. One of them then brought up Ron Paul. Novak laughed a little. Then said he agreed with almost all of Ron Pauls viewpoints, and that Dr Paul does a good job in congress. He then said that the presidential election is not a "referendum on issues". Then he made some comment along the lines of 'You wouldn't seriously want that guy to be president' while laughing a little again.

That is strange, some news articles ran previously where they quoted him as saying he felt Fred would win the nomination, but he liked Ron Paul. Perhaps he's trying to put some distance between himself and Paul again, who knows.

Its all about credibility, they have thier reputations in the establishment(which earns them respect and $) and dont want to blemish it by supporting a candidate until that candidate is almost on the whitehouse doorstep.

They know what they think they just cant say it out loud for fear of sounding foolish later on. When its safe to come out they will be the biggest cheerleaders.
