Lionsgate has released a statement addressing the controversy surrounding Ender’s Game, the studio’s upcoming film adaptation of the popular 1984 sci-fi novel by Orson Scott Card, whose stance against gay marriage (and subsequent statement to EW declaring the issue “moot”) has caused boycott threats and riled up the Internet. Lionsgate says it does “not agree with the personal views of Orson Scott Card” and pledges to “host a benefit premiere for Ender’s Game” that will support the LGBT community:

“As proud longtime supporters of the LGBT community, champions of films ranging from GODS AND MONSTERS to THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER and a Company that is proud to have recognized same-sex unions and domestic partnerships within its employee benefits policies for many years, we obviously do not agree with the personal views of Orson Scott Card and those of the National Organization for Marriage. However, they are completely irrelevant to a discussion of ENDER’S GAME. The simple fact is that neither the underlying book nor the film itself reflect these views in any way, shape or form. On the contrary, the film not only transports viewers to an entertaining and action-filled world, but it does so with positive and inspiring characters who ultimately deliver an ennobling and life-affirming message. Lionsgate will continue its longstanding commitment to the LGBT community by exploring new ways we can support LGBT causes and, as part of this ongoing process, will host a benefit premiere for ENDER’S GAME.”

Its funny how Obama was against gay-marriage just a few years ago.

Every single President before him was against so called "gay-marriage" as well.

But now being against "gay-marriage" is now an unforgivable sin of the left it seems.

They are getting bolder and bolder. And people are caving easier and easier it seems.

So sad.

It's no different than being labeled a heretic during the Middle Ages. Just blind fanaticism and group think; no room for individual opinion.

They shouldn't have needed to say this. That they did is unjust.

So the movie has nothing to do with sexuality then? It's the stances of the book's author they're frothing at the mouth about? SMFH

It was a long time ago that I read that book, but I have no recollection of anything like that in it. Is that 1984 date correct?

Ah......Wiki....

The book originated as the short story "Ender's Game", published in the August 1977 issue of Analog Science Fiction and Fact.[1] Elaborating on characters and plot lines depicted in the novel, Card later wrote additional books to form the Ender's Game series. Card released an updated version of Ender's Game in 1991, changing some political facts to accurately reflect the times.

Ender's Game is one of the greatest sci-fis ever written - this is complete nonsense.
