It is nice to see people rescuing a baby from murder and giving the baby a family, hope the baby gets a great life.

I agree with your grandma. Gods greatest gift to mankind is the ability to have parents, grandparents and extended family's, family in general.

Making adoption an easier option than abortion should be the primary goal of the Pro-Life movement.

Good for them, I hope the parents that loose out will head to the next orphanage and adopt the next available kid. We keep going down this road and it will make it easier to convince people that we can take care of ourselves without govt

+rep. This is one policy people from both sides of the debate can support.

People will be more likely to reject socialism if they know it will not help the needy and poor but only help the deadbeat instead. Most people only do not reject socialism is because the ones that need help won't get it if welfare and aid programs stop. In a culture of charity they will still get the help they need. And good night:)

I worked with Down syndrome kids and adults several times in my life. They are fabulous happy people who bring joy to the lives they come in contact with.

Down syndrome varies from mild to severe, yet people with down syndrome can live on their own and support themselves. Like anyone, they can also contribute a lot to the world. In order for someone to know the baby will have down syndrome, they have to get an amniocentesis test (although blood-based test (http://healthland.time.com/2013/01/10/could-a-blood-based-test-replace-amniocentesis/) is in the works.) At that point there's really nothing you can do. If people are truly worried about having a child with certain defects, genetic counseling prior to conception is much more ideal. Even then, your control over the genetic lottery is limited unless you do PGD which isn't 100%. I'd like to see more research done on the pathology of such birth defects. There's some suspicion that folic acid deficiency (in the mother) and pollution increase the risk of having a child with down syndrome, as well as other defects. Prevention, better preventative research, and support for people with any birth defect is always the superior option to abortion.

If your a christian (I believe you said you were) you would have to say Christ. I mean its right in the name. Is not gods creation of Man his greatest gift to us but lets not bring this to a religion forum. My fault on this one.

We have the disabilities, they know nothing but joy and happiness. If they were in control of the world, I would be will to bet there would be no more war and a lot more caring.
