(Reuters) - The United States plans to deliver four more F-16 fighter jets to Egypt (http://www.reuters.com/places/egypt?lc=int_mb_1001) in the coming weeks, U.S. defense officials told Reuters on Wednesday, in spite of the military-backed overthrow of the country's elected president.

"There is no current change in the plan to deliverhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png (http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/07/10/us-egypt-protests-usa-jets-idUSBRE9690PZ20130710#) F-16s to the Egyptian military," one U.S. official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

How many tons of $100.00 bills does it take to keep one f-16 in the air for a day?

Too many.. after the coup the military were low flying them and performing for the crowds.|

Junta's tend to have a warped view of resources and how to run a country.

Good luck with that Egypt .

not at all amazing, just hypocritical. Neecons plant is doing his duty.

Pro-Israel Advocates Push for Continued Aid to Egypt

On the one hand, some analysts are arguing that the U.S. must try hard to dispel the notion that it supported or now accepts the coup, lest it persuade Islamist parties, including Morsi’s Muslim Brotherhood, that its purported promotion of democracy worldwide does not apply to them.

On the other hand, other analysts – many of them neo-conservatives and others closely associated with the Israel lobby — have greeted the coup in Egypt more positively, urging the Obama administration to accept the coup, continue aid, and work closely with the generals, who are now seen as in control despite their nominal transfer of power to the chief justice of the Supreme Constitutional Court, to ensure a return to democratic rule.

“(A)ctually cutting off the aid now would be highly counterproductive, turning the United States into the adversary of the very actors we now depend upon to return Egypt to a democratic path,” according to Martin Indyk, vice president of the Brookings Institution and founder of the pro-Israel Washington Institute for Near East Policy (WINEP).

Any distancing by the administration from the Egyptian military risked alienating U.S. allies in the Gulf who supported the coup, he wrote on foreignpolicy.com, and by Israeli leaders whose relations with the military “have grown much stronger since (former President Hosni) Mubarak’s overthrow; cutting U.S. aid is the last they will want.”

Israel relying on Egyptian army to counter Islamists

Published July 05, 2013
JERUSALEM (AFP) – Israel is relying on the Egyptian army to suppress Islamist militants in the Sinai and to ensure the country's stability after the dismissal of Mohamed Morsi as president, Israeli media and politicians said.
The Egyptian military overthrew Morsi on Wednesday after millions of protesters rallied to demand the Islamist leader quit for failing the 2011 revolution and bolstering his Islamist base at the expense of the rest of the country.
Ministers in the Israeli cabinet have so far stuck to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's order for silence on the subject.
But MP Tzahi Hanegbi, who is close to Netanyahu, welcomed the ouster of Morsi, Egypt's first democratically-elected president who hails from the Muslim Brotherhood.

To be devil's advocate, these lobbies put lot of cash n pockets of US politicians/plants. Where will they get mega cash from for Congressional/White House campaigns if these lobbies are removed completely.

I once asked a question, why God doesn't just eliminate all the insects, snakes, mosquitos etc, i was told they have functons within nature's eco system.

Hey! This is not such a bad thing. So what if we helped their military coup overthrow their democratically elected leader from power. It worked great in Iran in 1953, didn't it? Right? :toady:

Come on, that has about as much relevance as the founding fathers wishes and intent when they wrote the bill of rights. Completely obsolete today!!!!
