D.C. police are investigating libertarian activist and radio host Adam Kokesh after he released a video showing himself loading a shot gun in the middle of Freedom Plaza in Washington.
In the video, Kokesh loads the shot gun four times as he stands in the plaza on Thursday with the Capitol building clearly shown behind him.
“We will not be silent, we will not obey, we will not allow our government to destroy our humanity,” Kokesh says as he loads the gun. “We are, the final, American, revolution. See you next Independence Day.”
Kokesh had been planning a march into Washington of 1,000 gun-toting activists for July 4, but the march was ulitmately canceled. Washington Metropolitan Police had pledged to arrest marchers who planned to openly carry rifles into the city in violation of District law.
Washington Metropolitan Police and the U.S. Park Police said in a statement Thursday they are aware of the video and are currently investigating.
“The Metropolitan Police Department and U.S. Park Police are aware that today Adam Kokesh posted a video that appears to have been taken in Freedom Plaza in Northwest, D.C. We are in the process of determining the authenticity of the video.”
Washington has some of the strictest gun laws in the country.

What do you do besides troll forums?
I just think Adam is a little pussy to cancel the march just because he doesn't want to go back to jail.

I'll bet it will turn out to be nothing, just like David Gregory's violation of DC gun laws...

Hopefully they charge him, and he can take the case to the Supreme Court. Aren't we in need of another test case at this point?

He may be a provocateur, but like the old saying goes..."if you don't exercise your rights you will lose them".
I stand with Kokesh.

What is the DC law? Can he carry the shotgun if it is unloaded? What proof is there those were actual, live shotgun shells as opposed to dummy/snap cap shells?

The RP forums seem to have very polarizing opinions of Adam Kokesh. Wasn't he a big supporter of Ron Paul's 2 election runs?

Does seem like he broke some laws. Unless he is lives there and the shotgun was registered and licensed, he broke those laws.
Also broke open carry law.
One thing for sure, out nation's capital is nothing short of a fascist state given the below gun laws.

The Second Amendment Foundation already has a case going through the courts. They sued DC for prohibiting open carry and for not issuing carry permits. Not sure of the status of those cases, but they filed suit way back in 2009.
Just think if a million people ALL did this.

If we have to resort to arguing that they might not have been real shells, then it sort of defeats the point of what Adam was doing.

This is another example of the 'abandonment of the rule of law' has brought, which is, the justice system treats you, not based on what you've done, as blind justice requires, BUT based almost entirely on who you are. That is the definition of the abandonment of the rule of law and no entity violates American rule of law greater than the US government/Washington DC empire itself.

I doubt it's just about attention. He can do that by smoking pot or something along those lines. Loading a shotgun in DC can get you killed.
Hopefully they charge him, and he can take the case to the Supreme Court. Aren't we in need of another test case at this point?
I don't know, Heller was 5-4. Pretty frightening that four voted wrong on that.

Agreed. Adam is ok in my book.
As for the provocateur stuff, I'd say no to that. If he were, he would have used a UBR instead of a shotgun. Those who are up on this stuff should recognize that his firearm selection was probably well thought out.
There is another video out claiming that the shotgun lacked a trigger....

Back in the 60's, people on the left claimed that the protestors who were marching and getting arrested were damaging the movement. But now they own the whole nation.

If the video is real he broke several laws and should be planning on being arrested. Civil disobedience is about publicly breaking laws and accepting the punishment that comes with it. Sneakily making a youtube video of yourself breaking a law while no one is even there to witness it is just classic attention whoring. It's the kind of thing you'd expect from a high school kid. I doubt a youtube video is enough evidence to bring any charges against him.... but the whole thing just seemed pathetic.
And before anyone gives my shit, I've been arrested twice for civil disobedience so I'm not just an internet warrior talking out my ass.

I also think it's very strange how he had all charges dropped against him in Philly while the other guy who was arrested is still facing multiple felonies. We definitely didn't get the whole story there.

Not that you would invoke Ron Paul's name to push your own personal agenda, but what has Ron Paul himself said to denounce Kokesh? What are Ron Paul's words (quoted, not paraphrased) on the matter?

I disagree that it's "attention-whoring". And that it was sneaky. Sneaky would be making a video and showing it to a few friends, not putting it out there for God and everyone to watch.
Adam Kokesh has never been arrested for civil disobedience. Right?
We'll have to see what, if any, fallout there is from the video, but if I had to make a bet, I'm betting he's arrested in the near future and charged with felonies.

More than 400 people gathered in New York and Washington D.C., while around 300 people were estimated to be in San Francisco.
Protests were also scheduled in 100 other cities, according to the organizers, “Restore the Fourth,” who describe themselves as a grassroots, non-partisan movement. The organization estimated that national turnout would be around 10,000 people, Reuters reports.
