Molon Labe. Why not overwhelm anti fireworks ordinances by performing a little civil disobedience?

Please choose to do this only if you live in an area that is actually safe for firing off fireworks -- don't start a wildfire or set big ones off in a dense urban area, as that won't help anyone's cause.

Thoughts?

Police will offer $50 or $100 rewards for people to turn you in. Indeed people will. The fines are probably upwards of $500 when it is all said and done. Depending what "Disturbing the peace" bullshit they ticket on. Not for me.

No one here really cares. There are ordinances but what the hell. I just wouldn't film myself.

Well where my home was. It's actually kind of depressing here. Fourth of July Eve? I couldn't tell. I feel pretty unfuckingmerican right now. I doubt I'll see any fireworks tomorrow either. Beer marinated garlic beer brats on the grill will have to do.

My state still bans ones that shoot into the air. Have to go to Alabama or Tennessee to get good ones, and I did.

No doubt in my mind it would be similar if they drove down certain roads with their bullshit.

What? Send more targets?

Actually it looked like they drove into it. I saw a car take a hit way up ahead in the beginning. They police didn't seem to catch any fire until they got up there. Well in the beginning. Pretty hairy.

Same here, but fortunately right across the river in Washington they're legal.

Every year since I can remember the news airs stories about how the police are really going to crack down hard on illegal fireworks that year with "Operation Lower The Boom" or some crap.

Yet, every year on the 4th the skies are filled with fireworks and you'd have no idea they were "illegal". It's awesome. Especially in a city that loves a nanny government as much as this one.

So I think this is a pretty good way to spend the 4th. Show that you're not afraid and have some fun. And invite anyone around you who's stuck doing "legal" fireworks. Maybe they'll feel more comfortable joining in next year. Once enough people ignore the bans they'll become useless and impossible to enforce.

All you need is snakes and sparklers.

In Tennessee it seems like no one either participates in or enforces the fireworks bans. The one in the above video in Springfield was exceptional, as that was an enormous amount of fireworks in a small area, but most of the time everyone shoots them off. it's a very humid place, so we don't have too many dry spells.

One of my earliest and dearest childhood memories is of me and my dad shooting off some illegal fireworks at our neighbors' house, and then dashing off into the woods when we saw a police helicopter patrolling the street. Talk about scared....we really thought our number was up.

That's because they aren't illegal in Tennessee. They are tons of stores right on the TN-GA border.

I'm pretty sure even sparklers are "illegal" in my pathetic excuse for a state.

Why can't we just kick out New York already?

the meaning of the 4th is gone. Fuck the 4th. With that said, at the end of the day, it is what it is....bullshit.

i love civil disobedience, but posting self-incriminating video is not a wise idea.

There are a ton of local use bans in TN. That's what he was referencing.
