It is an important event to reflect on. I'm surprised no one else replied. :confused:

Calling all history buffs/enthusiasts: there is a reenactment (see www.gettysburgreenactment.com/news-information/ (http://www.gettysburgreenactment.com/news-information/) .) The museum is also pretty neat.

I participated in the re-enactment last weekend.

I'd suggest the lesson for today is that when the structures of government are no longer capable of reconciling differences between parts of the population with opposing views, terrible results will follow.
