Wow what ? We knew the guy was a socialist. No one is praising Greenwald, we are praising Snowden.

It's also 54 minutes long. Please be more specific on the "wow" if you can.

I will. A socialist whistleblower is still a whistleblower.

Greenwald is a lot like Kucinich. We agree with him when he identifies problems, but his political solutions suck.

This is about the NSA spying on Americans :-)

Jeremy Scahill and Glen Greenwald are both excellent journalists. I don't really care that they speak in front of socialists.

Well put, and seeing that most of the population act like thoughtless zombies, I'm all for pointing out the the problems right beside anyone else that sees them.

If joining an protest under any banner can save a single child from being droned by "conservative" led freedom intervention, I would consider it a moral duty to do so. Who here will not?

It is odd that very very few so called "conservatives" or "liberals" are lately breaking whistle blowing stories or calling Obama "hypocrite of the century", why is that?

I watched this video and loved it, and I hate socialism more than the minarcho-socialists flapping their gums on this thread.

Who cares...it's a good thing if socialists are enlightened about totalitarianism. The more people are awake the better. I've actually seen more repeal the Patriot Act action from progressive groups than conservative groups out there.

Actually it should be about our government breaking the law, violating the constitution and acting like it doesnt matter.......and everyone says so what.....

Yes. The real shame is that we don't have more liberty people (who are supposed to be at least philosophically consistent) to speak out against the NSA.

Conservatives aren't saying much because they have no problem with spying. Liberals aren't saying much because Obama is doing the spying.

When I pointed that out, Kotin told me this:

Frank you are the most dense poster that has ever graced RPF.

of course its about government spying and not following the law.. when I say its about snowden, what the fuck do you think I mean?? that its about him personally?? you are beyond irritating with your bullshit day in and day out

get some common sense and half a brain while you are at it.

Is this supposed to be some sort of big revelation? Greenwald is great and is one of the best journalists around. Just because someone's a socialist or a Marxist, it doesn't automatically make them a bad person or bereft of good qualities or the ability to change things for the better.

The core difference, I think is that a liberty president would abolish the program and try to pass legislation in an effort to prevent it from being revived. Using history as a guide, the socialists would seize it and expand it.

I am of the firm opinion that if someone is a socialist or a Marxist, they are indeed bad people.

Kinda like the more schismatic anarchist-types who hold the firm opinion that if someone believes in minarchism or statism, they are necessarily 'bad people'?

I like Ron Paul's view of obeying the Constitution and learning from the advise of the Founding Fathers.

I'm of the opinion they have a narrow scope of view, not well versed in philosophy, and have a poor understanding of history.

Socialism works great in families. How else do well functioning families work.

That's great, but it doesn't have anything to do with my reply.

If you had addressed Ron Paul's attitude toward forming coalitions it might have touched the tip of it though.

Well, Greenwald has said he's willing to work with basically anyone who is willing to listen to his views openly, so while he may or may not be a socialist, I think clearly, he defies being put nice and neatly into the usual narrow right/left partisan boxes... he puts principle ahead of party and likes to stick to the issues, and that obviously aggravates many, and attracts both critics and supporters from across the political spectrum.
