Tom Morello's so pissed about the worldwide search for Edward Snowden that he's willing to foot the bill to help the man behind the NSA leaks escape the U.S. government.

We brought up the Snowden scandal to Rage Against the Machine's guitarist last night ... and he absolutely unloaded on the Obama administration, and recommended Snowden -- who's been charged with espionage and theft of government property -- never return to the U.S.

Morello explained, "I think he should live a happy life in Ecuador. That's what I think. I think he's a hero."

He added, "He exposed the crimes of the government. That we're all being spied on. all the time by the Obama administration? If anybody deserves to be in jail ... it's not Snowden."

Tom goes on to say he'll personally pay for Snowden's flight to South America -- and you've gotta hear his choice words for President Obama and his emails soliciting money.

Agree or disagree with him -- the guy is passionate.

I was thinking that at one time Morello was an Obama supporter. If that is the case, maybe more supporters will begin to see Obama for what he is.

I am suspicisius about the hole Snowden thing, its used to keep us focus on him so goverment can focus on syria while we are busy. But Snowden is still a hero.

I love to hear this. Morrello was on the fence about Obama when he first got elected. He was a HOPE guy. But you can't blame him, he's got a ton in common with Obama in terms of race and where they grew up and how they grew up. I think they went to the same college too. Anyway, it's great to see an anarcho-socialist like Morrell stand up for Snowden and rip Obama. Music to my ears, like RATM. :)

I wouldn't say he was a big Obama supporter. I used to be a huge RATM fan and heard him on in interview right after O got elected. He pointed out all the commonalities he had with Obama and said something like "I hope he's able to make some of the changes..." I think Rage is unashamedly anarcho-socialist (or anarcho-syndicalist), which is closer to libertarian than Democrats, but still miles away in terms of true freedom. Their songs do have some cool lyrics in any case. :) More respect for Rage than Rise Against, who only wanted to rise against republicans. :(
