Listen to Rand Paul. Edward Snowden needs to stay away from all the Socialist/Communist countries, including Russia.

Say NO to China, Cuba, Venezuela, and Ecuador.

Rand Paul: History will judge Snowden if he 'cozies up' to 'enemies' (http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/06/23/rand-paul-history-will-judge-snowden-if-he-cozies-up-to-enemies/)

Libertarian-leaning Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) on Sunday warned National Security Agency (NSA) leaker Edward Snowden that he would be judged harshly by history if he became friendly with “enemies” of the United States.
...

“So I think there will be a judgement because both of them broke the law, and history will have to determine,” he continued. “I do think for Mr. Snowden, if he cozies up to the Russian government it will be nothing but bad for his name in history. If he goes to an independent third country like Iceland and he refuses to talk to any sort of formal government about this, I think there’s a chance he will be seen as an advocate of privacy.”

“If he cozies up to either the Russian government, the Chinese government or any of these governments that are perceived still as enemies or ours, I think that will be a real problem for him in history.”

“I do think for Mr. Snowden, if he cozies up to the Russian government it will be nothing but bad for his name in history."

Just my opinion, which I'm sure doesn't count for much, but I think continuing to make these statements is actually harmful. You will turn more people away by continuing to repeat this message than you will gain.

If he goes to an independent third country like Iceland and he refuses to talk to any sort of formal government about this, I think there’s a chance he will be seen as an advocate of privacy.”

I'm speaking for myself, but I don't care where he goes. He will be THE advocate of privacy regardless of what labels the MSM or politicians care to assign to him.

Maybe it would be better to try and get this advice to him through Greenwald?

Side Note:

Edward Snowden beware: U.S. State Department has confirmed history of running covert abductions of Americans in Ecuador (http://www.infowars.com/ed-snowden-beware-u-s-state-dept-has-confirmed-history-of-running-covert-abductions-of-americans-in-ecuador/)

As reported by the Associated Press, Edward Snowden managed to evade U.S. authorities and fly to Ecuador where he is apparently being granted political asylum.
...

What AP doesn’t know — and neither do most Americans — is that the U.S. government has a well-established track record of running covert kidnapping and abduction operations in Ecuador to capture anyone they want.

And the reason I know this is because I am the journalist who used to live in Ecuador and who broke the bombshell story of herbalist Greg Caton being kidnapped by U.S. authorities in Ecuador in 2009. He was then stuffed onto a U.S.-bound jet at the airport in Guayaquil and flown to Miami.

That full story is published here on Natural News:

The problem is that a lot of countries have protection treaties with the U.S. including Iceland. If it comes down to it, do you really think they will jeopardize a treaty for one man? I don't and I don't think Snowden has a lot of options because the U.S. has long tentacles everywhere. Sadly I DO think our government would threaten any small country that gives him asylum. There is NO guarantee that if he stayed away from China or Russia he would be treated any differently. I doubt at this point he is that worried about how history will treat him. He is probably just hoping not to end up like Manning. Once again the conversation needs to focus on the fact that this man has to run for his life for telling the truth about an act of tyranny committed against the citizenry.

He has risked everything -- his very life -- to get crucial information out to the public. For anyone to suggest that he might "undermine" the public discourse of said information by fleeing to Russia, Cuba, etc, is ludicrous.

If the American people choose to focus on where Edward Snowden flees to instead of on the massive police state Snowden risked his life to reveal -- it will be *US* who history judges harshly, not Snowden.

NSA's Russell Tice (2009) and NSA's William Binney (2011) already exposed the NSA spying on everyone. I just find it troubling that Edward Snowden didn't reveal anything new.

JBS being really inconsistent with those articles. Somehow they seem to retain the "America, right or wrong" attitude while being well aware that our government is openly run by criminals, for criminals. What I read there looked like it could have well been written by a member of the Kristol family.

Whats with the media doing their best to shift focus on the man, rather than the illegal, unconstitutional behemoth that he exposed?

Well, as bad as those countries are they a lot better than GITMO. No doubt Mr Snowden will be declared an enemy noncombatant because if they pursue him criminally then they will be forced to expose "state secrets" (wink, wink).

If they decide to prosecute him anyway then he will face a SELF IMMUNIZED federal "judge" who will ignore his defenses by asserting that `GOVERNMENT IS NOT ON TRIAL". !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To be fair, the only countries that could withstand US pressure would have to be Russia and China.
