You probably didn't wake up this morning wondering what Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio thought about Kim Kardashian and Kanye West naming their new baby "North." (http://tv.yahoo.com/news/kim-kardashian-kanye-wests-baby-name-revealed-reports-160655963.html) (Congratulations! You're normal, unlike us.) Thankfully, talk radio host Andrea Tantaros asked Rubio about the celebrity couple's newborn on her show Friday.
"You're probably only going to get this question from me today," Tantaros told Rubio during an interview. "Kanye West named his baby with Kim Kardashian 'North West.' Do you think that's a slight to Florida? Should they have named him 'South East?'"
"Oh gosh, I guess we could just wait for another baby," Rubio said. "That's going to be an interesting birth certificate."
Tantaros also congratulated Rubio on the Miami Heat's victory in the NBA Championship on Thursday night and asked if he partied hard with LeBron James the night before.
"Oh no," Rubio said. "Those days are long gone."
As our dedicated readers will recall, Rubio was once a regular on the Miami nightclub circuit, which he wrote about in his memoir, "An American Son." (http://www.amazon.com/An-American-Son-A-Memoir/dp/1595230947)
Here's an excerpt (http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/marco-rubio-became-senator-15-stories-younger-days-160115571.html) from a South Beach foam party, which Rubio described in the book:

One night, near the end of the South Beach season, my friends and I made plans to attend one of our favorite South Beach haunts for a 'foam party,' where oceans of white foam are dropped from the ceiling and you find yourself dancing in it up to your waist.
...That night, near midnight, I looked up and watched the foam descend from the ceiling. It was a sight to behold. Then my beeper buzzed....

I applaud him for that. That deserves a grammy. What a performance.

"Kanye West named his baby with Kim Kardashian 'North West.' Do you think that's a slight to Florida? Should they have named him 'South East?'"

I stopped reading here because no matter how Rubio reacted, it cannot be dumber than the question.

The father's last name is "West." This rather precludes the idea of naming the child "South East." It's not even a funny joke. It's just vapid giggly reporting.

I guess the name Key wasn't in the running.

That's almost as bad had having Eric Holder name his son Pot.

Is there a sane answer to such a silly question?

James Hogg,Governor of Texas, named his daughter Ima.
Now there was a politician with a sense of humor.

Don't forget her siblings Ura and Hesa. There was another one, too--but that one's name mercifully slips my mind...

Is there a sane answer to the question? Yes. 'They should not have named the child South East. They should have named the poor thing something sane and normal, so the child didn't have to rely on parental wealth to protect her from the merciless teasing the parents should get, but the unfortunate child will have to be the one to endure.'

But it requires spine of a politician to say that about two popular media figures, and Rubio would therefore not be a prime candidate.

Thanks. You talked some sense into me. I join you in your restraint.
