It is really scary to see so many people with the opinion "It was good that he leaked those documents, but he must be charged and convicted anyways because, you know, zero-tolerance. No exceptions."

NSA secrets revealed — in 1960

...A decade and a half before the Senate’s Church Committee would reveal that the U.S. government had attempted the overthrow of various foreign governments, Martin and Mitchell said just that: “Since going to work for the National Security Agency in the summer of 1957, we have learned that the United States government . . . secretly manipulates money and military supplies in an effort to bring about the overthrow of governments which are felt to be unfriendly to the United States.”

Citing press reports, they also claimed that the federal government had opened millions of pieces of mail sent from abroad to U.S. residents.

In sum, the United States had employed intelligence methods “as unscrupulous as it has accused the Soviet government of being.” ...

Considering that the WP is a lefty rag, and their fore most of their readership, 50% of "my prez right or wrong" vs 50% HELL NO! is pretty good.

Then I see shit like this:

Legal, but unconstitutional

What kind of fucking stupidiotic horseshit is that? If it isnt Constitutional it can NOT be Legal. What part of Constitutional do these fucking retards not understand? Not a comment, its a story that is so offensive I wont even link to it.

Blame Bush. It's his fault. This is a real conversation with the most brainwashed person I know.

Me: Edward Snowden did not commit treason. That's the propaganda machine.

"Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort."

Statist: Bill O'Reilly & Letterman discussed this last night. Even Bill admits that there is no evidence of treason, but violating State Secrecy. We all knew that the NSA was monitoring all calls. What troubles me is that this function was privatized by Bush/Cheney. That is Bull Shit. But I thank 29 yr old Snowden. Citizens need to know what their government is doing. Secrecy is overplayed. BTW, Obama has balanced the right to privacy and the right to safety quite well. POTUS & his administration have kept us safe. The Boston Marathon Bombing is only the tip of the iceberg. But the Patriot Act should be repealed.

Me: "Bathtub falls and police officers kill more Americans than terrorism, yet we've been asked to sacrifice our most sacred rights for fear of falling victim to it." ~Edward Snowden

Statist: The NSA program has foiled 50 terror attacks.

Sounds like terror attacks like the Boston Marathon Bombing is fine with you, because the victims would have slipped in their bathtub if they hadn't been blown up.

Blame Bush and WMD. If it's not broke, don't fix it.

[edit] after reading through the comments, it would seem that nearly everyone has hatred for those that would invade their privacy even when they are doing nothing wrong. It's not like a single guy with a camera can use these videos to control the entire population. I just can't understand why there isn't this same level of outrage for what is going on around us everyday, everywhere we are. Keep it coming Snowden. I still have hope that a righteous rage will start to build until the majority of people say we have had enough with the destruction of our constitution.
