Rep. Mark Sanford (R-S.C.) has been given a seat on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, officials with the panel announced on Wednesday.
The once-disgraced Sanford, who resurrected his political career with his election to the House earlier this year, will join the committee immediately, panel officials said.
Sanford said on Wednesday that he was "honored" by the committee appointment.
"Efficient, effective infrastructure is critical to families and businesses in the Lowcountry," he said in a statement. "Serving on the committee will provide ample opportunity to positively impact important issues for the 1st District, as well as for taxpayers across the nation.”

He gets to spend $$$ on pet infrastructure projects although there doesn't seem much money around for that these days.
