Director of National Intelligence James Clapper told the black-tie crowd of more than 700 he would “address the elephant in the room” and proceeded, to applause, to denounce “the unauthorized leaks as reprehensible and egregious.” Clapper characterized the program as completely legal, debated and reauthorized by Congress under strict oversight and by court order “to make our nation safe and secure.”

He then cracked a few jokes. “Some of you expressed surprise that I showed up—so many emails to read!” Clapper said. Greeting fellow banqueter John Pistole, the administrator of the Transportation Security Administration who recently reversed a planned policy to permit air travelers to carry certain knives on planes, Clapper said, “John, can I borrow your pocket knife?”

James Clapper, the director of national intelligence, told NBC that the leaks "violate a sacred trust for this country. The damage that these revelations incur are huge."

On Monday, Glenn Greenwald, the Guardian's lead reporter on the Snowden case, used Twitter to chide Clapper for claiming that Snowden's disclosures harmed national security. Greenwald also suggested that there were more revelations to come.
"Clapper: leaks "literally gut-wrenching" - "huge, grave damage" - save some melodrama and rhetoric for coming stories. You'll need it," Greenwald tweeted.

Or Obama joking about drone striking dissidents after assassinating Americans.

They are fat and fed.

I expect nothing less from them.

http://www.govexec.com/federal-news/fedblog/2013/06/banqueters-and-spying-news-bombshell/64598/?oref=riverI subscribe to GOVEXEC... this is what gives you the insite of a MARXIST-FASCIST state will live UNDER today.

What? No pics from the party? Ties as headbands? Champagne toasts for government prolls? Kinda disappointed. But it does show you one thing... when those C-SPAN cameras are on, it's all acting, 100% KABUKI THEATER.

I'd like to see C-SPAN cover every single government employee attended party within the Washington DC beltway. It would be 24/7 coverage for the entire year and still have not show all of them.

Here we go... the elites partying on the taxpayer dime... the crowd is so cozy between contractors, government, and lobbyists... they use knicknames, acronyms, and brevity codes. Gesus, these narcissistic self privileged government elites love giving each other awards every week.
