Rep. Jose Serrano........

On Monday, at a House Appropriations Subcommittee hearing with new acting IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel, Rep. Jose Serrano (D-NY) suggested that funding should not be cut for the IRS thanks to scandalous spending, and added that non-profit status should be revoked for all mainly politically-oriented groups. He stated that cutting IRS funding would prevent compliance and monitoring efforts.

“I am second to no one in this Congress in asking for funding for the IRS … while I and others stood to the IRS, it was not doing what it was supposed to do. I don’t care who the groups were, no one should have been targeted, no one should have been singled out for bad treatment,” said Serrano.

I will channel my inner Ron Paul..... "Yeah I say let's cut the IRS budget. How about we cut their budget to ZERO?"

OK...three choices here:

1 - Horrible reporting and editing.

2 - Jose Serrano is a blathering fool who can't weave two sentences together in anything that resembles a coherent thought.

3 - I'm having a stroke.

He wants to end tax exempt status for any group that's "political."

Does he know that La Raza and the NAACP would be in danger?

I've seen other liberals say the same thing (tax exempt status should be ended). I'd rather end the IRS, but that's just me.
