After some recent departures, Mark Zuckerberg’s FWD.us picked up a pair of heavy-hitters Friday.

Barry Diller, the media executive, has joined the advocacy group founded by the Facebook CEO to push for comprehensive immigration reform, the organization announced in a blog post.

Also joining is Steve Chen, one of the founders of YouTube, the group said.

The additions are the first since the group lost two members — Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk and David Sacks, an entrepreneur — over TV ads that bolstered the conservative credentials of lawmakers who support immigration reform. At an event this week, Musk said the group’s methods were “a little too Kissinger-esque, realpolitik.”

One ad for Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) touted his support for controversial oil drilling, his opposition to health care reform and his knocks on President Barack Obama.

Led by Joe Green, Zuckerberg’s college roommate and a co-founder of Causes and NationBuilder, the group has hired a cast of Washington insiders and old campaign hands from both parties. They include Rob Jesmer, who was executive director at the National Republican Senatorial Committee, and Joe Lockhart, a former spokesman in the Clinton White House.

The group is looking to raise $50m.
