NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - Mayor Bloomberg called medical marijuana a scam on his WOR radio show on Friday.

In a discussion of efforts to legalize it across the country, Bloomberg said, "There's no medical. This is one of the great hoaxes of all time."

He went on to make another eyebrow raising statement about how legalizing marijuana will cause other problems.

"Drug dealers have families to feed," Bloomberg said. "If they can't sell marijuana, they'll sell something else."

Bloomberg says that "something else" will be worse than pot.

"The push to legalize this is just wrongheaded," Bloomberg added.

An aide later told the NY Post that the mayor is concerned that recreational users would be able to access a system intended only for those with medical needs.

While running for mayor in 2001, Bloomberg admitted to experimenting with pot when he was younger.

He referenced that during Friday's broadcast, saying that he understands that marijuana is much stronger than it was 20 or 30 years ago, but added that he doesn't have any recent reference to its strength.

Problem is... he didn't experiment more. :(

So he really is a stereotypical liberal politician: "Do as I say, not as I do."

On second thought, that also applies to Republicans as well.

He needs to tell the United States of America as represented by the Department of Health and Human Services (http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PALL&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsrchnum.htm&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=6630507.PN.&OS=PN/6630507&RS=PN/6630507)

If there was a reporter there that actually did research Bloomie would have been asked why the Feds have a patent on the main ingredient in "marijuana" if it's a "hoax"

and someone should tell this pharma company right away:

http://gwpharma.com/Sativex.aspx

Sativex® is a cannabinoid medicine for the treatment of spasticity due to multiple sclerosis which is also in development in cancer pain and neuropathic pain of various origins...

Now approved in the UK, Spain, Germany, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Sweden, New Zealand and Canada. See map below for future growth

and this company:

Cannabinoid Patent Exclusivity Only Applies To One Condition (http://www.tokeofthetown.com/2011/12/cannabinoid_patent_exclusivity_only_applies_to_one .php)

The exclusive rights to apply the cannabinoids found in marijuana as therapeutic agents awarded by the U.S. federal government to the firm KannaLife only apply to one specific medical condition, KannaLife's CEO told Toke of the Town Monday night.

http://www.tokeofthetown.com/assets_c/2011/12/secrets_of_the_night_fashion_show_06-thumb-250x268.jpeg

Dean Petkanas, chief executive officer at KannaLife Sciences, told us that the exclusivity applies only for the development and sale of cannabinoid based therapeutics as antioxidants and neuroprotectants for use in the treatment of hepatic encephalopathy.

That doesn't make any sense. He keeps contradicting himself, claiming that if drug dealers couldn't sell marijuana, they would sell something worse, then he says legalization is a bad idea? If you think making marijuana more available is going to prevent worse things from being sold by drug dealers, then why would you be against legalization?

I agree. He has reached the point where his delusions of grandeur are causing him to lose touch with reality.

Goddamn right.

Let's not forget that this is the same fuckstick that told people "you'll just have to suffer a little" when he, by Kingly Decree, prohibited city hospitals from dispensing certain pain killers.

Of course, if Hizzoner needed meds, including cannibis, you can rest assured he'd have all he needed, of the very best quality.

If we were one tenth the men we were 200 years ago, this petty tyrant would have been tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail.

The only viable response to tyrants is derision. Why anyone does anything but laugh at what Bloomberg says is beyond me. Pretty much nothing out of his mouth is ever true.

Didnt he used to be a republican before he became a democrats and I think he is now an independent. I believe he is in a category all by himself, a power loving authoritarian with a penchant for wanting to "protect" the little guy from himself

I'd say he's talking with his head in the sand (or his ass), but he couldn't receive these obvious handed-down talking points if he was truly oblivious to the world.

He's a big-govt puppet whose only goals are appeasing his handlers. Whatever they tell him is fact, whatever they tell him to do is right. The external world is meaningless to this guy, because it won't help him be president/be a highly paid lobbyist/be untouchable.

WTF is this guy's problem?

No amount of weed will help him. He suffers from a god complex built over multiple decades. If anything, lighting up would bring the guy a renewed focus and vision for tightening his control on the mundanes.

This is the same guy that thinks if you limit the size of soda cups in fast food restaurants to 16 oz, it will actually combat obesity because no one will simply buy two sodas.

(Not playing with a full deck there.)

No, he is definitely playing with a full deck, we need to better understand his intentions. He wants the public to have a negative view of pot (an effort which is failing) so that the Prison Industrial Complex can surivive at the expense of turning normal people into Criminals that they get paid to prosecute (unjustly) and incarcerate.

If Bloomberg had his way, he'd make drinking Soda a crime punishable by Imprisonment. Problem there is that the people will not swallow a lie that big, and he is already being threatened by the shifting public opinion of our current drug laws.

Bloomberg profits from a Prison Planet. So of course he is going to demonize pot as much as he possibly can. Now, not too many people know that Aspirin is pretty much Willow Bark. And we hear daily about what Aspirin is good for. Blood Thinner. Pain Killer. Reduces chance of Heart Attack. Then, there is some new study that directly contradicts what the previous study concluded. Aspirin doesnt thin blood. It doesnt do anything for pain. Its very back and forth. The key here is availability. Growing your own Willow Bark if you arent in the right climate is a pain in the poopshoot. Its easier for us to go to just about ANY store and buy it over the counter. But imagine for just a second that Aspirin was made illegal. Who would stand to benefit from it being illegal? What kind of information would you expect to be fed by someone you knew had an agenda to keep Aspirin illegal? Do you think MSM covered studies would be in favor of, or demonize the Medical uses of Aspirin?

Now, re-read the above paragraph and replace Aspirin with Pot.

And that, contrary to what Bloomberg asserts, is the reason that people who make a living selling pot (outside of corporate control) won't be out of a job anytime soon.

True.

Ironically, aspirin can easily kill you from an overdose. Take about 30 to 35 of them and it'll be your last headache.

By contrast, you'd need a forklift to carry the amount of marijuana it would take for a lethal overdose. (500 to 1500 pounds eaten or smoked within a 15 minute period.) Basically it's impossible to overdose on weed. You'd pass out stone cold asleep long before you got anywhere close to a tiny fraction of a toxic overdose.

If given the choice, I'd prefer a pot pill over aspirin for a headache. Dont get me started on Ibuprofen.
