Poll: Hillary Clinton’s favorability rating dives amid Benghazi probe
By Jonathan Easley - 05/31/13 07:47 AM ET

Hillary Clinton’s favorability rating dropped significantly in a Quinnipiac University poll released Friday, as the months-long investigation into the terrorist attacks in Benghazi have begun to drag on the former secretary of State.

According to the survey, 52 percent said they have a favorable view of Clinton, against 40 unfavorable. That’s down from her all-time high of 61 percent favorable and 34 unfavorable in February of this year.

“Her score is down substantially from her all-time high score in February,” said Quinnipiac director of polling Peter A. Brown in a statement.

“The drop in favorability is substantial among men, Republicans and independent voters. One reason for her drop may be that 48 percent of voters blame her either a little or a lot for the death of the American ambassador in Benghazi.”

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) this week subpoenaed State Department documents related to the Obama administration’s talking points about he attack. The State Department has already released more than 100 emails related to the talking points, but Issa called the release “incomplete.”

Many Republicans say the Obama administration, through the State Department, misled the American people about the nature of the attacks in the days following the siege that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.

It's funny people keep pretending Mrs. Clinton is invincible if she runs for President in 2016. Lot of people said the same thing about her in 2005-2007.

She is not and will continue to be exposed to Benghazi-gate, Obamacare which she supports, worsening economy etc etc.

I don't think Hillary is a lock for the Dem nomination.

I remember once Hillary Clinton compared herself to Rocky, saying they both "finished the fight". Of course they also both lost to a black man.

The media-consuming public hasn't even yet been exposed to the tip of the iceberg with Hillary Clinton. If she runs, she will be wrapping up her campaign from Death Row and the trail of murders behind her is relentlessly exposed. The Clinton Body Count isn't a joke or a myth.

I never believed that Hilary was going to be the de-facto Presidential Elect in 2016. People tend to forget that she's not the most likable person in the world (and that is putting it lightly). That, and women don't like other women.

Hillary has all of Obamas flaws and none of his strengths.

I don't think she even intends to run. At 52% favorable she is still more highly rated than Obama or Congress amazingly enough. I am surprised it was that high to begin with.

I had always thought she was done in 2008; the primary was not a good one for her, and to go through it again, they would at the very least have to guarantee her the nomination. She also has no real incentive to be President. If you remember the jokes from the 90's- she's already been President for 2 terms.

If it's Rand Vs. Hillary, I'll just show up to the debate with a blimp size cigar. That should throw her off.

Uplifting, but let's not write her off too quickly. Let's not forget she's still got tons and TONS of people who would be happy at nothing more than to see her run and she- plus her staff- have to know this. Does anyone think this is permanent?

There was an article in POLITICO the other day that said most of her "top" staff have abandoned her. Think it was called "who would Clinton hire?" if you want to look it up

Maybe she is pacing herself, didn't want to peak too soon. Think of it like a race, a cross country race.
