Many pundits and journalists, including CBS' Bob Schieffer, have drawn parallels between the Obama White House's handling of scandals plaguing the administration and Former President Nixon's management of Watergate. We looked back in the archives to see just how close they were.

I guess for people of that generation, what Nixon did was somehow a big deal, like they had no idea then that that's the kind of thing the president does. Why he's still held up as the quintessence of corruption by anyone today, I have no idea.

It won't harm him, though. Despite the similarities, he has too much popularity amongst his base and they would not turn on him. They'll instead just call it Republicans grasping for anything related to a scandal and will call it a witch hunt. Though Obama did not use the line about responsibility here, keep in mind that during the 2012 election, he took blame for Benghazi over Clinton when he said the buck stop with him.
