On Tuesday, Michele Bachmann shocked many in the political establishment with her announcement that she will not run for reelection again from her house district.

Stating that the President is constitutionally limited to a total of eight years in office, the congresswoman said four house terms was an appropriate length of service for her.

Rep. Bachmann assured her supporters that this decision had nothing to do with fears of reelection in 2014 or any concern about FEC issues surrounding her 2012 presidential campaign.

The 'Writing Is On The Wall', b/c She BARELY won in her district last election and all her prior alarmist statements has proved false. Michele Bachmann is a Former IRS prosecutor(and reportedly an asshole to Americans she brought to court) and has numerous investigations going on to her shady campaign cash scandals. Writings on the wall, Bachmann would lose the next election.

Bachmann's, "Ron Paul is DANGEROUS" and "Iran will use a nuclear weapon on our ally Israel" she doesn't represent Americans, she's a bigot and another false prophet peddling fear and imperialism and putting special interest ahead of American interests.

Maybe she will run for governor next. Being nuts doesn't seem to preclude people from holding office.

Rep. Michele Bachmann's (R-Minn.) retirement from Congress means that another occupation will be kept much less busy — political fact-checkers.

"We will miss Michele Bachmann. She kept the Truth-O-Meter busy — and occasionally made it burst into flames," said Bill Adair, the editor of PolitiFact and the Washington bureau chief of the Tampa Bay Times.

"She cited our work once during a debate, saying that we had rated all of her claims from a previous debate to be True. But alas, she was wrong and earned another Pants on Fire."

Bachmann's time in Congress — and her run for president — was both a boon and a burden for fact checkers like PolitiFact. Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler added Wednesday morning that Bachmann's retirement serves as a "national day of mourning" for fact checkers.

At the end of 2011, PolitiFact rated her as the most inaccurate Republican presidential candidate. Today, 61 percent of her statements over the years have been rated at least blatantly "false." And of those, 25 percent were rated "Pants on Fire" — the website's lowest rating.

the factcheckers are biased as sin, so I don't really pay attention to them unless I agree with their argument, but the lie she told that I care about was the lie just before the Iowa caucuses that the reason Sorenson fled her campaign for Ron's was because Ron's was paying him under the table and that he had told her so to her face. That the ethics charge against her is precisely that SHE was doing so makes me believe her campaign was doing so, whether she knew it or not. It is just too pat.

I think that was one of those lies that came from actually believing it to be true and having been told so by her staffer who had already said HE had been told so to his face, and just pretending it was to her face for versimilitude, but it had huge impact as those who had liked Bachmann were looking around for where to go, once it became clear she was not in the running.

The only problem with drafting Bills is that he lives outside her district. I think he's a more likely candidate for Kline's seat once the Rep retires. Maybe Marianne Stebbins can run for Bachmann's post.

I understand you don't have to be in the district to run, I'm not sure Stebbins lives in the district either, but she's the one I'm hoping will run. She spearheaded the delegates who won that district for Ron, so she should have a leg up on getting the district endorsement, I should think.
