They tased the guy.

Standard procedure.

Domestic violence usually work like this, if the police come, someone is going to jail. I would put an unscientific figure of 99% of the time it being the man. Get in an argument with your girlfriend, a neighbor calls the police, someone is going to jail. They'll even tell you that. That they don't think there was a victim but that once they're called, someone has to go. (from what I've heard, the laws were changed to state as much) The charges get dropped (because there was no victim) though the charge still remains on your record. Another big money maker, such as DUI laws.

What we've got here, is a group of officers that do not fear breaking the law because they are confident that they will not be fired.

Remember when tasers were supposed to be used as a non-lethal alternative to lethal weapons? This situation did not warrant any weapon. If their goal was to cuff them, why not simply grab their wrists and bring the arms behind their backs as cops used to be taught.

One of these days the home owners are going to defend their property with shotguns when arms intruders break down their door... badge or no badge.

Insane video capture! Those neighbors sure helped that family out. Having had lying, vindictive neighbors before this is really a problem esp. when we live in the type of culture where people believe they can fix any potential bad situation if we just give the police a bit more leniency in investigating situations such as this.

Yeah, it's a PITA to have neighbors like that. I've had some cop calling, nosy, neighbors. Seemingly weekly. He probably got into a verbal with his girlfriend, they overreacted and called the police, and then the video happened. The cops won't get in trouble and they sure as hell aren't paying for the door.

Does anyone know what exactly he was charged with?

Such an incident as this could end up testing the limits of the Castle Doctrine. A dead cop after entering the home without a proper warrant is bound to happen sooner or later, resulting in a shootout with the other cops on site. I think I would be saying (at the start of this), "Babe, take the kids and go to the bedroom and hunker down, NOW!", then determine the best form of action, which would be (to start off with) to try to talk some sense into the cops (letting them know I will stand my ground), if possible.

They just got Swatted by someone.
Asshole neighbor,, or someone with a grudge.

An anonymous call is all it takes.

there are actually people who call in swatting as a business. you can pay someone to have someone swatted as a service.

It is cool, they are wearing costumes.

The man's charge? Assaulting a police officer with a door.

also, resisting non lethal force (taser) he aught to praise them for not beating him to death.

State approved violence was worse than any domestic situation.

The more you resist, the more resources they will bring on line to destroy you.

It drives them into a fury, like a bunch of maddened hornets, and the fuckers will burn you out, kill your whole family, grenade your house to splinters and give victory high fives in the ashes.

Always be aware of how sound carries as well, as it relates to even regular conversation from within your house. It does not always have to be an argument. I've been walking back from checking the mail and heard my wife talking on the phone from outside. No windows open, doors shut. My wife is not a loud person. It just takes a raised voice and a dumbass neighbor. I've even been approached by "concerned" neighbors because they hadn't seen much activity around my house for a while. WTF? Too much activity.....suspicion. Hardly any activity....suspicion. Don't give me that if you're not doing anything wrong, you don't have anything to worry about shit. Worked so well for Jesus and Gandhi now didn't it? :D

But what can you do? It's the neighbors who are the problem. If they call the police they will kick the door down and beat you.

If you have guns and criminals are beating down your door to harm you and your family, what do you think you are supposed to do?

Depends if the criminals galavant around 'neath the mantle of sanctioned force. If so, you can fight and lose all (life being a necessity of everything) or surrender and lose, maybe, less.

I bet this state of affairs makes you family types jealous of us loners. While we have just as much to loose (life) our loss is insulated.

It does. I thought of this scenario and tried to think of what I'd do. My mental calculations would tell me that a cop is less probable to murder me than a common street thug breaking into my home. As provider for my family and someone who loves my family dearly, compliance with officer friendly seems the better route. Is it emasculating? Absolutely...but I'm not going to give up my life with my kids over a BS power struggle from a low-wage public worker. I won't give him the smug satisfaction of destroying my family.

Sort of where I like to think I am as well.

But here's the bottom line, even full compliance will not necessarily save you from a beat down, or worse.

Been a whole metric fuck ton of stories where the victims of crime called the cops and got roughed up or even blown away.

Or where there was a midnight raid and people got shot, tased or took a beating just because a bunch of amped up, asshole, cops were in full raid mode.

The best course of action is always to avoid Officer Friendly and his pals at all costs.

But as the police state ratchets down, Officer Friendly and his pals are increasingly going to be actively looking for "Blanks" like us.

In the very near future, avoidance and yes, even groveling compliance, ain't gonna save either one of us.

It was a tragic misunderstanding....We still dont know why they didnt COMPLY with the officers request to open the door....Then all of this could have been avoided...

That will be as close as it gets to an apology while the families home and bodies continue to crack and sizzle in the ashes.....

A clear cut case of breaking and entering with a side order of assault and battery with intent to do great bodily harm.
