Glenn Greenwald is a solid liberal with morally sound stances often on foreign policy that align with libertarians. Bill Maher is a fake and a neocon wearing "liberal" costume like many Dem tools in media.

I caught a bit of that. Maher and his friends seemed shocked. Was this his first time on Maher?

And probably his last. Real progressives, real conservatives and other independent minds don't get called back much to be on Maher's show.

Agreed. I respect Greenwald much more than I respect over 95% of those who pass for as "conservatives" and Republicans these days.

Does Greenwald have a role in Ron Paul's Peace Institute? If not, someone needs to make him a board member immediately.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Anti Federalist again.

Now where was that thread a couple of weeks ago where someone here was pimping Bill Maher for taking the neocon "It's cuz mooslums are eeeevilll" mantel?

Here is the entire segment which starts with Maher, Greenwald, & Cooke going at it over Benghazi.

PWNED!! :D Years ago I had hopes for Bill Maher. He sold out like the rest of the faux liberal propagandists. He's adopted the neocons' talking points. :P

And if McCain had been in office, Maher would be calling for impeachment because of what went down in Benghazi. Politics is a sport and people like Maher cheer/root for players (politicians) because of the letter (R or D) that's in front of their name.

Conservatives generally don't make themselves respectable. The anti-war/anti-state movement has its roots in the radical left. As far as mainstream electoral political movements go, American left liberals are the most "liberty-friendly". (even if their reasoning for it is specious)

I'd love to see a college conduct a round table debate on foreign policy with GG and RP vs. any neo con/lib.

Greenwald's performance in AF's clip reminded me of Ron vs Giuliani in '08.

Here is a great takedown of Maher courtesy of Brett Veinotte and his kickass NH-based podcast, School Sucks Project...

You could tell Bill Maher wanted to put a speed limit on Greenwald. He was getting to many objective points out in to short of a time.

Totally agree.

As an aside, I'd take 1 Glenn Greenwald over 50 Jim DeMint or Ted Cruz types.

I used to defend him pretty regularly here, but after his recent comments about the 2nd amendment I haven't paid a modicum of attention to him.

Uhm, yeah - he is! He's really good at illustrating problems, but his solutions are the same as Elizabeth Warren's. You're nuts if you'd take him over Jim DeMint in the pursuit of liberty.

Glenn Greenwald deserves respect, he is very principled with regard to foreign policy and civil liberties. Maher is a charlatan.

Foreign policy and civil liberties are bigger concerns for me so I'd rather have Greenwald as opposed to a watered down politician like DeMint.

I saw the same thing. Maher just had nothing that resembled a substantive point. Not in the short version I just watched, anyway.

DeMint's a socialist, too. He supports the military, police, government built roads, SS, Medicare, and all sorts of socialist programs. He even wants to increase spending in many places.

Isn't it ironic how an "athiest" like Bill Maher worships the same god--the State--as most modern Jews and Christians with the same fervor as most modern Jews and Christians and for the same bogus reasons?:

"Those primitive Islamists want to kill us because of their false religion and only our true god the militarist-State can save us from them!" The only difference between Maher and the non-"athiests" is that Yahweh, Abraham, and Jesus aren't accepted among the sainted.

I like how Greenwald implies that Maher is on the same side as General Jerry "My god is bigger than your god" Boykin.

Christopher Hitchens was a right wing version of the same thing: supposedly a big time "athiest" but actually a big time worshipper of the state and true believer that only his god can defeat the inferior god of those primitive worshippers of the false god.

As an atheist myself, I appreciate Hitchens' criticisms/analysis of religion (Maher was always a condescending elitist douchebag in my book) but he did contradict himself when he bowed down to GWB after 9/11.

Whether or not you want to point the finger at religion for instigating conflicts across the world, it has always been the State who has escalated and manipulated these conflicts into war.
