His rap music is great in terms of spreading the message on key topics. It is a shame he is such a leftist though.

I thought we weren't judging people over endorsements.

FWIW, I don't agree with everything Lupe Fiasco raps about or endorses but he is more awake than the majority of people I encounter.

Case in point:
"Stable is when the Ba'ath had Baghdad,
But coporate jets really had to have that gas bad.
War and I know they'll all fall from the rat-a-tat,
Cuz that's just more dinosaur for your Cadillac."

He keeps on his path, he will awaken. Hell, at least he might listen. I can disregard the parts he isn't quite there yet on.

No doubt. Same here. The man is still educating himself. He's what, 20 something years old? If I'm not mistaken he's from Chicago. Talk to the youths out there. See how far it gets. Tweet a book to him. He's one of the few that might actually read it.

If that seems 'lol'ish, by all means keep laughing. The GOP is dying. Reaching out to those willing to educate themselves seems like a winning situation. Party lines blind.

he's also a Muslim and his father was part on the black panthers

So he kinda grew up in a political background/activist type.

Here I'll post several songs of his that are kinda deep. Might need 'rapgenius' to look deeper into his lyrics. That website breaks each line down.

released this during OWS on his Friend Of The People mixtape

"wont pledge of allegiance to your flag"

“I fight evil” is the subtitle of the Friend of the People mixtape.

Lupe has become increasingly political which is demonstrated both by his album, Lasers, and this mixtape. In an interview with CBS news, Lupe says:

I’m trying to fight the terrorism that’s actually causing the other forms of terrorism. You know, the root cause of terrorism is the stuff the U.S. government allows to happen. The foreign policies that we have in place in different countries that inspire people to become terrorists.

Ron Paul: Liberty Defined might do him some good. I don't know much about twitter but I think it might help.

Or post Ron Paul (Like a Boss) there every chance you get.

Tupac and BIG showed that talking too much doesn't end well if you become a star with wide infulence. If Lupe is as smart as he sounds, he's flying under the radar on purpose. Enough to get 11million hits on that song but not enough to be a threat.

Smartphones and tablets wouldn't exist without capitalism.

When you place technology (or more relevant, the sciences) into perspective with liberty, trinkets have nothing to do with it in scope. Nor does capitalism or any other ism thrown in to cloud the matter. This is generic political spew that is learned in a manner that promotes ignorance to the heart of the phenomenon. This creates another false paradigm.

Science is a way of thinking. That's what is important. Is a way of thinking that is much different than the politics that manipulate the actual physical and social infrastructure which is derived from it. Trinkets are just...trinkets. Now that's a rather vague couple of scribbles but probably not worth the effort to place it into perspective if the common logic is "oh, it's Marxist". This is shallow. Of course, it's been done here a few times already if anyone is so inclined to go looking.

This thread is a fail. And besides. Marxism doesn't sell anymore. Find another avenue.

On that note, I'm changing my sig.

You know, I'm not a big fan of Murray Rothbard, but my respect for him went through the roof when he praised Che Guevarra for being revolutionary. Why? It's not that I like Che (I don't). It's that I like the fact that Rothbard was smart enough to see value in people that he disagreed with on economics. Imagine if when OWS was going on, liberty activists had worked the crowd with the Rothbard / Che eulogy article? Imagine some young left wing ideologue reading that, thinking "Hey, this Rothbard fellow is okay. Let me see what else he has to say." Might that have woken someone up? People really something is totally screwed up in this country. They realize it on the left. They realize it on the right. We can either tap into this and try to help steer people in the right direction, or we can let ourselves continue to be played by the PWB and reflexively put people in "camps" and ultimately do the "divide and conquer" work for ourselves. It's like the Lauryn Hill thread where it was pointed out that she realizes there's something wrong with the income tax and that the music industry is corrupt and fixed and all some people can think about is "OMG! She's a leftist!"

Anyway, here's the best hip-hop video ever IMO. (Maybe the best music video ever).

I don't listen to a lot of Lupe, but I think the value he brings is problem identification. It's extremely hard to get people to acknowledge several problems at all. We may have different solutions, but we're at least all pointing at the same problems. And he reaches an audience that RPF/CFL types have a difficult time reaching at all.

She's a hypocrite. She is all fine and dandy with big government seizing and resdistributing wealth... uhhh, but not her wealth though! She meant oil companies and old white guys wealth!

These limo liberal goofs have been concentrated in the entertainment industry since God knows when, and they never learn. Even when they get bit in the ass they never see the light.

The problem is they are tough to dislike, they entertain us, so we cling to any glimmer of hope that maybe they are on our side. I was the same way with rock bands I once idolized.

And you have a quote of that? Or you're just pulling that out of thin air? Having a problem with the income tax is having a problem with the income tax. Let go of the hate already.

At one point i was a true Lupe fan, but his leftest views and his views on firearm turned me away, i still admire his work but not as much as before.

Lecrae on the other hand i have found to not only carry a very positive message, but also the talent this guy has is outstanding.
