Looks like Zuckerberg is investing some of his billions into a political operation.

The reason he's doing this is simple: Zuckerberg would have been ousted long ago when Facebook went public as they usually prefer an experienced hand to guide a company at this stage of its development but it seems he's been able to win over the establishment and now it's time to cement that relationship.

What better way to protect yourself than to build up political capital and influence which can then be peddled to his friends or large investors to keep them on side and shore up his own position considering the fact that he's an inexperienced CEO of a large public company?

If things start going wrong for Zuckerberg he can call in a lot of favors.

The group enlisted a star-studded list of backers and supporters as it ramped up — Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, Yahoo’s Marissa Mayer and Google’s Eric Schmidt, to name a few.

Led by Joe Green, Zuckerberg’s college roommate and a co-founder of Causes and NationBuilder, the group has hired a cast of Washington insiders and old campaign hands from both parties. They include Rob Jesmer, who was executive director at the National Republican Senatorial Committee, and Joe Lockhart, a former spokesman in the Clinton White House.

FWD reportedly is aiming to raise $50 million, asking its members and supporters for donations of as much as $1 million each.

Facebook has major links to the CIA and DoD and was very likely funded by them from the start so Zuckerberg is in with the CIA and this explains why Wall Street keeps a kid as a CEO of a major public firm.

-
Facebook’s first round of venture capital funding ($US500,000) came from former Paypal CEO Peter Thiel. Author of anti-multicultural tome ‘The Diversity Myth’, he is also on the board of radical conservative group VanguardPAC.

The second round of funding into Facebook ($US12.7 million) came from venture capital firm Accel Partners. Its manager James Breyer was formerly chairman of the National Venture Capital Association, and served on the board with Gilman Louie, CEO of In-Q-Tel, a venture capital firm established by the Central Intelligence Agency in 1999. One of the company’s key areas of expertise are in “data mining technologies”.

Breyer also served on the board of R&D firm BBN Technologies, which was one of those companies responsible for the rise of the internet.

Dr Anita Jones joined the firm, which included Gilman Louie. She had also served on the In-Q-Tel’s board, and had been director of Defence Research and Engineering for the US Department of Defence.

She was also an adviser to the Secretary of Defence and overseeing the Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), which is responsible for high-tech, high-end development.

Seriously though he's looking for $1m donations to his PAC>

Jeeez..

$50m target

That would make it one of the biggest PACs in the land!

He's looking to be a powerful man. I suspect he's worried that he might screw up and he's seeking political protection.

How come we have a half a dozen or so Zuckerberg threads? Try keeping everything relevant to what he's doing in one thread so that the big picture is scribbled up for all to see. Gosh. People are their own worst enemy.

This practice is why yuns will end up in line awaiting yer retina scan.

People respond to incentives, and Facebook is an Incentive for people to give up things they are constantly taught to percieve as useless in exchange for something they percieve as more valuable. What that means is people are given incentives to give up their Rights in exchange for what they percieve as Security.

The problem here is that those with money are the ones who can buy influence in the Govt, which in turn benefits only those with money at the expense of everyone else. If Zuckerberg truly got his way, he'd have every other form of Social Networking outlawed by Govt EXCEPT for Fedbook.

But what does Zuck want? It seems like he wants more than just an expanded H1B program.

He's wanting to be a serious political player.

Maybe he studied the Microsoft experience and decided to get ahead of the curve.
