I know the feeling. I lost my grandma (92) 2 years ago, and then my dad (66) 2 months ago. Glad you were there for her at the time she passed. I can't imagine passing alone by one's self.

Sorry to hear that. My grandma passed away about a year and half ago as well, we were very close. RIP.

Thank you all.

I actually lived with my gramma pretty much for about four years during high school in the late 80s and early 90s. It was partly out of convenience (she lived a block from school, my parents lived 25 miles from it) but also because I was quite troubled at the time, and she was about the only person I got along with and who calmed me.

R.I P.
and my condolence for your loss.
102 is a good run,, and likely a blessing that she will not see what is coming.

Very sorry to hear that. 102 sure is a long life. I bet she was full of interesting first hand history.

Thank you all.

Sounds like it was a positive experience for you. Contact with extended family is one of those things that's lessened over the years, with the state taking care of the elderly (instead of children and neighbors) and the state taking care of the young (welfare state, WIC, etc) instead of older family members to keep them in check, and also encourage behavior that lessens chances of dependence on themselves.

I sometimes feel like the current structure robs people of those experiences, although they never even know it. A lot of people really never know what they missed.

Similar here, I lived with my grandmother during my last 2 years of high school, because of problems at home. She passed on some time back.
Chin up, you'll not forget what she did for you. :)

edit: My grandmother almost hit me over the head with a skillet one night, I came home after finally getting high on MJ (took a few experiences) and I had been drinking, I just wanted to go to bed, starting stripping, she yelled at me, "You're not undressing in front of me, I'll knock you out with this pan", I was just like, "Go to bed grandma and you won't see me undressing"....

That is the kind of Gramma I hope to be. Love the scarf, too. You both look adorable. May you have peace and joy at this bittersweet time.

Sorry to hear. She certainly saw some incredible changes in her lifetime. People alive today probably won't see that many dramatic changes in the world. My last Grandfather was 97 last year when he passed. His wife just turned 95 and is still going. My other grandparents were in their upper 90's as well.

My grandmother taught me how to weed a garden, skim the creme from fresh milk, can peaches, make preserves, and snap beans.
Remembering the good times. --->Especially remembering when she made me cut my own "switch" for "a switching" Ha Ha!

If you feel like it, a story or two would be welcome...;)
