She lives in NH. We don't want your G D sales taxes in NH. I get it, almost everyone in every state supports them but in NH, just leave us the F alone. Even 1 of the 4 US Reps currently openly against it is a Democrat from NH. Please, the rest of the US, don't force sales taxes or income taxes on us folks in NH. We are morally against your taxes.

I beleive the Senators from OR might also be against it. 1 of them is a co-sponsor of an oppositely inclined bill. OR also doesn't have a sale tax, though it has a very high state income tax.

Wow the DE senators need to be thrown out.
Well, the politicos are calling this all wrong. It actually helps the economies in NH and DE (without an income tax) substantially more than it hurts the economies in the other states. The reasoning is that if folks in MA and MD have to pay sales taxes on online purchases, folks are more likely to drive to NH and DE to buy sales tax free items. I know it is all confusing but realistically, I'd expect the Senators from states without a sales tax (especially NH, DE and OR to some extent) to support this more than the other Senators. There is no good reason but there are several minor reasons why they aren't. It is all pretty interesting to someone very interested in politics.

According to logic, if anything, the Democrats in OR or NH should be thrown out, or the Republicans in OK or KY. Oh well. Politics is strange, illogical and unpredictable.

This is like the dumbest thing ever. Instead of cutting spending, they decide to add a tax that would maybe get them a few seconds worth of spending money from folks like me (amateur eBay sellers/budding eBay entrepreneurs) that find online sales a great way to make a bit of money or get things for a decent price. I feel like this would turn A LOT of people away from online shopping and selling.

It does not level the playing field. That is the propaganda supporters of the bill are spreading.

The opposite is actually true. Main street would continue to collect tax for the jurisdiction for which they are located. Meanwhile online sites will need to adhere to the tax code from the location of the buyer. There are 9600 separate sales tax jurisdictions in the US that the customer maybe located that the online business would have to remit to.

If your total business does over $1m in annual sales, may as well just incorporate separate entities to spread out your revenues, thus keeping each one under the $1m mark. Example, say you have a storefront business and do online sales as well. Yearly revenue for both is $1.6m under same business entity. You would have to collect and remit the new taxes. Answer is to incorporate your online sales as a wholly different business. Then you will have one business that does $700k per year and another business that does $900k per year. Neither meet the $1m threshold. No additional tax collection :)
