(CNSNews.com) – Granting amnesty to illegal immigrants would cost $6.3 trillion, according to a new report by the Heritage Foundation.

“Unlawful immigration and amnesty for current unlawful immigrants can pose large fiscal costs for U.S. taxpayers,” states the report by Robert Rector and Jason Richwine, Ph.D.
Not only would the federal deficit increase, but the cost of benefits and services to millions of newly minted citizens would reach nearly $10 trillion.

“Over a lifetime, the former unlawful immigrants together would receive $9.4 trillion in government benefits and services and pay $3.1 trillion in taxes,” the report states. “They would generate a lifetime fiscal deficit (total benefits minus total taxes) of $6.3 trillion.”

Rector and Richwine took into account direct benefits, such as Social Security, Medicare, unemployment insurance, and workers’ compensation, as well as means-tested welfare benefits, public education costs and population-based services in reaching their findings.

Heritage President Jim Demint will unveil the new study at a press conference at 11:30 on Monday.

that doesn't even count what will go to the chain migration FROM them which is perpetual and automatic as soon as they get citizenship. that is the biggest thing the citizenship issue is about. If they can't be made citizens (which is automatic unless specifically blocked once they are legalized) then there isn't chain migration except as specified. It is many multiples of the actual people here, and they would self select to come by their own income benefit, and MEDICAL needs. Since Obamacare is now institutionalizing rationing, that seems very thoughtless of the needs of current American citizens. And education was always similar.

But this is barely mentioned and not at all on capital hill, just by Jim De Mint who is sending stuff around. I truly feel like we have no representatives there. They are allowing it to be the bad racists against the families who don't want to be torn apart, when the current people here can be dealt with in a variety of ways without tearing families apart and without subsidizing them at taxpayer expense.

Note that the reason our immigration system for poor people from Mexico is 'broken' (it takes 20+ years to come if not related to someone here) is that family from the much smaller 1986 amnesty is still working its way through the preference system.
