Group Plans ARMED March on Washington... (http://cnsnews.com/blog/gregory-gwyn-williams-jr/radio-host-lead-armed-march-dc-july-4th-put-govt-notice-we-wont-be)

Libertarian activist and radio host, Adam Kokesh plans to lead an armed march on Washington, D.C. this Independence Day.

Launched as a group on Facebook, the "Open Carry March on Washington" hopes to get 1,000 supporters to march into the nation's capital with loaded rifles.

The group plans to meet at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. From there, they will march across the Memorial Bridge into Washington, D.C. and continue down Independence Avenue.

While Virginia permits open carry, Washington, D.C. does not issue any permit/licenses to carry a firearm.

The Facebook page states:

"This is an act of civil disobedience, not a permitted event. We will march with rifles loaded & slung across our backs to put the government on notice that we will not be intimidated & cower in submission to tyranny."

The event is said to be non-violent and states that if the group is met with physical resistance, they will turn back.

"There's a remote chance that there will be violence as there has been from government before, and I think it should be clear that if anyone involved in this event is approached respectfully by agents of the state, they will submit to arrest without resisting," the event's page reads.

The event is open to unarmed supporters, journalists and welcomes law enforcement officers to join.

Which is what's going to happen. Also, didn't adam's original post also request that if the police would like to make an arrest, you're supposed to submit to it? This will prevent many from going.

Surrendering during an armed march weakens the position.

Good thing that they plan on surrendering peacefully if arrested.

who's going to face felony charges and extensive jailtime to do something the media won't cover (unless it's "event-setting")? Especially when arrests would be made like picking off flies from the crowd? occupy comes to mind

Yup,, most Auto Fatalities are the result of sober "Law Abiding" drivers.

So what,, we should just live in fear?

If they're arrested, couldn't this lead to an interesting Supreme court case?

If it stays peaceful and they do the passive arrest protest it will be one quick way for people to get a lot of expensive weapons confiscated and spend years trying to get them back, if ever.

Anyone remember the Jefferson memorial protest. This will have the same type of effectiveness. It exposes the coercion where people can not ignore it. Media may not cover it. But that will pay dividends for years.

Well don't bring a pricy rifle. Hit a gun buyback and offer $20 over what the cops are offering, which is usually in the $50 - $200 range.

They will be able to confiscate guns from thousands of people? Without violence? This will be very interesting to see that's for sure.

Resistance in any form is a good thing. Some do it privately, some do it publicly. In my opinion, this specific act of resistance is moving peoples minds in the right direction, in order to think more as free minded individuals. Brushfires are good, some lead to forrest fires that renew the forrest.

Down in a specific county in Florida I was talking to an ocenographer, telling me they have ordinances today that are against allowing brushfires to occur. They put the fires out when they occurr. The problem is the seeds have required the renewal process only brought by fire, in order to survive. There are areas that have no life in them now, just lifeless sand.
