David Jones of Tennessee writes:
Wednesday marked the organizational meeting of Tennessee's new States Rights' committee (a subcommittee of the Joint Government Operations Committee). It took place under the leadership of Rep. Matheny (Chairman of the House Government Operations Committee). Tennessee is the first state in the nation to form such a committee. The members are authorized to review both introduced and enacted federal legislation, rules and regulations, and executive orders, etc., that the committee believes infringes on the rights of Tennesseans, then report any relevant findings to the speakers, members of the General Assembly and Congressional delegation. At that time, decisions could be made about what actions might be appropriate moving forward.
