I wish the libertarian party had a charismatic leader like Nigel Farage - that alone is probably half the reason they have been so successful. I think I would vote for them if I lived there. Although they are still socialist in some aspects, they at least want to perform a major decentralization of the countries services and leave the EU. I'm happy for them and the people of the UK.

Yea people like gary Johnson have the charisma of a wet sponge. Doesnt do us any favors having candidates like that.

UKIP is slashing away at Tory support in the local elections, largely due to David Cameron's treacherous refusal to hold the referendum he promised on the European Union:

Ukip has seen 117 councillors elected, of which 110 are gains, with 4 councils to declare. It has 634 second place candidates and only 32 candidates polling under 10 per cent, according to a Ukip spokesman.

Now that UKIP has won more than a quarter of the vote, the two major parties, and more importantly, the BBC, can no longer get away with pretending all the British people who are not interested in serfdom to the Lords of Brussels are "fruitcakes, loonies and closet racists".

One hopes that having been betrayed by Cameron once, the British people will not be foolish enough to fall for the blandishments of the stealth Europhile as he vows to "work really hard" to win back their vote by promising them the same referendum he already promised and denied them.

There is no point in supporting the Conservative Party in the UK, because there is nothing left to conserve. All the various political issues are secondary to the primary one of national independence, which makes UKIP the only reliable party and the only one worth supporting.

Try to imagine Ron with an English accent after two pots of coffee and you've got Nigel. Cheers!

this is so awesome. They did great.

If the Alternate vote referendum passed a year or so ago they prolly would have gotten even more under the better voting conditions.

can the UK be moving ahead of us in shrinking the size of government if nigel farage becomes MP? unbelievable..

uk might be an attractive place for deserters if we ever give up the fight here. i for one will feel ashamed but if UK turns out to be more libertarian i must admit it becomes an attractive option

The Libertarian Party should start choosing candidates that are actually libertarian. Sometimes I think Konkin was right.
