CBC Hiring: 'Any Race Except Caucasian'

The government-funded Canadian Broadcast Corporation placed an ad at Craigslist for a new television host, specifying "any race except Caucasian." Of course, any individual or private group should be allowed to associate with only those they chose, but for a government agency that supposedly "represents all Canadians," they apparently represent some races more so than others. 80% of Canadians are classified (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Canada) as white. If they really wanted a cultural mix perhaps they could have advertised for someone from the Atikamekw people of southwestern Quebec, who speak, not surprisingly, Atikamekw.

It would perhaps be a big hit for English and French speaking Canadians to get their government funded television broadcasts in Atikamekw.

The majority are Caucasian. Or at least, mostly Caucasian. Same with Hispanics. I doubt the smart folks at the CBC were aware of this heady science stuff.

What's to be shocked about. This is the policy behind affirmative action (the "just" form of racism). Only this time "HR professionals" make it seem "respectable" and a "best hiring practice".

Didn't notice it was government funded. Are they government OWNED? Due to the nature of crony capitalism, that government gives them money isn't enough for me. If it were, that would allow government to basically enslave everybody, since everyone has money stolen from them by government, and everyone "Benefits" (not as much as if they weren't taxed, but certainly more than they would if they were taxed AND got no benefits) nobody would have freedom of association.

If its government OWNED I agree. No discrimination in that context.

It is the government. Someone in the Canadian government hates Mexicans, Turks and/or other Caucasians so they put that in the ad that the Canadian government placed on Craigslist. In theory the CBC is owned partly by the British monarch but in practice it seems to be controlled by the Canadian government.

It shouldn't be legal for the government to discriminate. CBC is government funded.

That's how it was with me in the workplace. I didn't get hired until all the foreigners did. The company I worked for wanted diversity, meaning no white people.
