for those with no fb or you tube, It's time to March Against Monsanto on 25. May
Global Event List: http://bit.ly/ZTDsk8
Start your own march: http://on.fb.me/16qw2r4
Informations: http://bit.ly/12AjXh1

TEXT on FB link, the other 2 are docs, here is text from one link, i will post the rest next for those with out facebook, At this time, March Against Monsanto will not be creating any new events. We have 250 events and our hands are full helping people organize those. However, if you would still like to organize a march for your town/city and there isn't one already listed here [http://bit.ly/ZTDsk8 (http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fbit.ly%2FZTDsk8&h=sAQHHfo8F&s=1)] you can create your own event and send us a link to it. We will add it to the list so others can find it. Thanks!

Step 1: Decide whether to do a march or a single rally. If you can get at least 20 people, a march has the potential to reach a lot more people than a rally.

Step 2: Pick a good location. For a rally, a state capitol building or city hall is a good spot. If there are any GMO-related headquarters or corporations in your city, that’s another good spot.

If you’re doing a march, pick two well-known locations to start and end your march. You can do mini-rallies at each location. Keep in mind walking distance; around a mile is a good distance.

Step 3: Research which permits may be necessary to make your event legal. You can research this on the Internet by looking on city government websites or calling their offices. Requirements are usually different depending on whether you’re doing a march or a rally and where it will be held.

Step 4: Reach out to potential speakers if you plan to have a rally or mini-rallies along with a march; this is a great way to increase the turnout and get media coverage. Try reaching out to organizations in your city that oppose GMOs and/or Monsanto like farmers and organizations that promote organic foods. If there are politicians in your city/state who advocate GMO labeling, that’s another good idea as well.

Note: If you’re having speakers, you may need to get additional permits for a PA system and/or a bullhorn.
Step 5: Once you have all of the details worked out for your rally, it’s time to promote it! This is done by use of flyers, including large ones to post to telephone poles and small ones to handout.

Also send a press release to your local media alerting them to the event.

If you’re doing a march, be sure to create a banner to carry so people know why you’re marching. Also, make signs and have attendees bring their own as well.

*We will provide some guidance for you, but ultimately the success of your march will be in your hands, as this is a grassroots-led movement. Thank you!*

I understand from twitter that Elizabeth Kucinich has just been appointed pure food guru at some pure food guru organization. I wonder if she would be interested in this.

The Center for Food Safety on Wednesday named Elizabeth Kucinich as the group’s policy director, a position that places her in the center of key battles over food and beverage regulation.

Andrew Kimbrell, the center’s executive director, also pointed to threats posed by pesticides used on fruits and vegetables.

“The food movement is under attack,” Kimbrell said. “Elizabeth Kucinich comes to us at a time of ultimate need. The chemical companies have their sights aimed squarely at the regulatory safeguards that protect our health. Elizabeth’s knowledge and skills as an organizer and advocate will help ensure that we in the food movement are ready and able to fight back.”

The English-born Kucinich has worked on poverty issues in India, Tanzania and the United Kingdom. She came to the United States to work on monetary policy reform and later served as a congressional liaison to a former president of the United Nations General Assembly.

She is also a former government affairs director for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine and serves on the boards of several groups, including actor Sean Penn’s Haitian relief organization.

yeah but you didn't post it because of that. so keep being sly. Not asking for food guru's. asking for them to label their gmo products. since they are so GREAT!!! don't hide the garbage, label the garbage. they have to label ingredients but they hide their slimy gmo products.

If you are going to include a pesticide genetically modified food. Then i should know. monsanto is corrupt like gop est.

[QUOTE=erowe1;5005117]Here's one of the first pics I saw on that FB page:
yeah, people on the far left don't like what they are doing too, and they don't analyze it logically.

Truly, you don't think there are ethical problems with 'patenting' a live, reproducing organism, then saying you own the offspring when it naturally reproduces with Farmer other seed to create new seed as farmers have done since time began? Mine you, the real problem is the govt LETTING them, since that goes farther than I see proper patent policy allowing in the absence of crony corporatism.

Sure, I see a problem with that. So have a march against patents, or a march against corporate welfare, or something.

Sure, I see a problem with that. So have a march against patents, or a march against corporate welfare, or something.

It is Monsanto's crony relationship with the government, which while LOGICAL on their part and PREDICTABLE once allowed, is still no more ETHICAL than giving bribes to officials in countries where that is 'just how business is done', that makes them the particular problem. It is more obvious what is intended and is more effective to name a brand. If it stops being in their interest they may stop pushing it. All patents are no more at fault than every single thing Monsanto does is. People know what you are marching against.

Sometimes you have to work with where the momentum IS.

I still don't see any reason to single out Monsanto. Like you said, it's logical on their part.

Would you really support marching against someone who bribes officials in a country where that's just how business is done? If I lived in a country like that, I'd bribe officials and sleep at night knowing I did nothing wrong. The problem isn't the people trying to make a living. It's the state.

So what? Our government shouldn't allow it, and that is where this is aimed. Also, if people stop buying their stuff after they look into the issues they are more informed consumers, and it may STOP being logical for Monsanto.

As for the marching against foreign bribery, I wouldn't 'support' it because it doesn't sufficiently impact me, but Monsanto does.

If you have skin in the game, then I understand your position.

For me, I assume that the ways Monsanto affects me are mainly for the better, not the worse.

I don't have skin in the game as an economic matter, but as someone who both comes from farming families on one side and sees trying to own the seed corn as outrageous, and as someone who eats food and doesn't want anyone to have a monopoly over it. But if you think Monsanto is a force for good, you are certainly entitled to your views.

I see this as a way to pressure govt as well as monsanto. I didn't come up with the march, but I like the pressure.
