This is why Rand's Trust But Verify is the only serious attempt at immigration reform.

If they want immigration reform to pass, here are some things they need to put in the bill:

1) A bond for every probationary status immigrant. That way if the immigrant misses a hearing, private bondsmen will be out looking for them instead of a useless federal marshal.
2) Prohibit any form of public assistance until they are citizens.
3) Make a "one strike and you're out" policy where any serious or violent offense will mean automatic deportation.

That bill is nothing but a gift to illegals and I don't mind the illegals that are here and just working and keeping a low profile, but there are lots that are just lowlifes that need to get deported.

Yea, we need the govt to first have the power to determine who is lowlife and have them deported on those grounds. Then we need to reward the rest with tax/ debt funded welfare.

They can put all the restrictions they want, except the "right to vote".

We should start by deporting Nancy Pelosi to Canada. I mean if the goal is to get rid of welfare leeches let's start with the bignames before working down to the illegal alien working in the Acapulco backroom.

I'm not saying the govt is good at doing anything, I'm just saying that this bill will be very unpopular, even among people who support immigration reform, in that it's just a big give-away rather than a reform of the system. I would prefer a market system for immigration myself, and I'm an immigrant.

Related thread. An interesting twist is that Levin is trying to excuse Rubio by blaming McConnell instead:

Levin seems to be very soft on Rubio nowadays.
