I'm really tired of trying to find good high quality footage of Ron Paul. I know its out there, but its so hard to come across.

Soooo... I'm thinking of starting a site to archive high quality Ron Paul footage. Does anyone think this is a good idea? Could anyone contribute to it?

However, what they don't realize is that, ladue vs. Gilleo, a supreme court case ruling says that it is unconstitutional for anyone to forbid the posting of political or religious signs on PRIVATE property for any reason as a direct violation of 1st amendment rights. I'd love to have a high-res RP repository. The only place I've found is stage6.divx.com and their selection is limited. People likely get their high-res versions directly from their DTV, which is MPG2 format. Requiring conversion narrows the number videos - not everyone knows how to do it, or do it right.

If you were to build a high-res RP video site, anyone could submit their recordings as-is, increasing the number of videos simply because they only need to upload it. Just make the upload interface easy and it will certainly take off.

I recommend that you contact the youtube users directly and ask them to send you/post to a third party file share the raw footage.

Well, my web host gives me insane amounts of bandwidth and storage space, so I doubt its really a problem. Of course, I know they will probably get pissed if I actually USE all that bandwidth though, but I don't really expect TOO many people to be grabbing everything.

I've been spending a good chunk of the day scouring the web for footage and emailing people begging them for clips, so maybe I will have enough to actually get something started soon.

Youtube is terrible for trying to do anything else with. It was hard for me to not use profanities in that last sentence. Youtube is the Ron paul Video Gatekeeper.

I've been suggesting for months videos be uploaded to the Internet Archive not only so we can access and download them in various formats easily, but also so this movement can be preserved for posterity for future generations.

For those unfamiliar, "The Internet Archive" is the public library of the internet. It can be accessed via both http or ftp.

Aside from 2 or 3 Ron Paul DVD ISO's, the GOP debates, and a few old Ron Paul speeches from years back there is'nt much else in the "Election 2008" archive. I think Obama is whoopin our tails in terms of number of campaign video's archived. Is that acceptable?

I'm a techie and unfamiliar with how to create a torrent so I doubt that everyone with the raw footage will know how to either.

Perhaps, that can be the second leg of this. After getting all raw footage to a central location, creating torrents to spread it far and wide.

The Internet Archive is dependable, has great speed, and does'nt require additional software.

The files uploaded are available just as they were uploaded. They add the same file in additional formats so users can choose between the large file you uploaded or smaller compressed formats. MPEG 4's, ISO's, and FLV's are not converted into additional files.

I've been suggesting for months videos be uploaded to the Internet Archive not only so we can access and download them in various formats easily, but also so this movement can be preserved for posterity for future generations.

For those unfamiliar, "The Internet Archive" is the public library of the internet. It can be accessed via both http or ftp.

Aside from 2 or 3 Ron Paul DVD ISO's, the GOP debates, and a few old Ron Paul speeches from years back there is'nt much else in the "Election 2008" archive. I think Obama is whoopin our tails in terms of number of campaign video's archived. Is that acceptable?

Did I mention it's free?

This is the perfect place to archive ron paul videos. I wish I'd thought of this. Lots of people download music from the Live Music Archive that is associated w/ archive .org and might browse the RP videos if they are mentioned on the front page.

Couldn't we have a Ron Paul torrents website?

I'm a techie and unfamiliar with how to create a torrent so I doubt that everyone with the raw footage will know how to either.

Perhaps, that can be the second leg of this. After getting all raw footage to a central location, creating torrents to spread it far and wide.

Just a thought.

Another great idea. I know how to do torrents. You can host them on isohunt.com which is one of the most popular torrent search engines. I'm seeing DVD's on isohunt.com but not video compilations. We could do a video compilation and then each week torrent an updated compilation.
