Doug Mataconis at Liberty Papers published an article yesterday titled, "Ron Paul, Federalism, And Racism" (http://www.thelibertypapers.org/2007/11/24/ron-paul-federalism-and-racism/), in which he asserted that RP's position on the government's role in dealing with racism was naive and ultimately incorrect and also condemed the campaign's acceptance of donations from people belonging to Stormfront, etc.
It was a well-written article and made a thoughtful argument.
But what is really interesting and enlightening are the numerous, even more thoughtful, erudite responses he received from RP supporters who dismantled his argument brick by brick. It is a long read, but if you want to understand the kind of ideological integrity behind this movement, you really should take a few minutes and read the responses.
Further, discourse remained civil and polite for the entire thread, unlike the characterization of RP supporters portrayed in the media.
Makes me proud and humble to be associated with this movement.
