We all know that's not really true. They make tons of money, whether it's through insider trading, quid pro quo jobs later, awarding contracts to their relatives/friends, etc, etc, etc. 6-7 Billion was spent on the 2012 presidential election alone. So, let's say 3 billion spent for an opportunity to get a job that will pay 1.6 million over 4 years? You don't need to be a mathematician to know the numbers don't make sense as presented.
