The body of 22-year-old Sunil Tripathi was "pulled from the water off India Point Park in Rhode Island," reports USA Today. Sunil was the student mistakenly linked to the Boston bombings by users on Reddit. "It was not immediately clear when Tripathi, who was last seen March 15, died," nor has a cause of death been determined.

The only connections Reddit made between this guy and the bombing suspects were some pictures where he looked vaguely like one of the bombers. There was nothing else as far as i can remember.

Yeah, there was absolutely nothing linking this guy to the event, other than the fact that he looked a tiny bit like one of the actual bombing suspects.

The article said he had not been seen since 15 Mar. How do you know he was getting FB threats? Is the article wrong?

Where are you getting that info from? According to the article, he was missing almost a full month prior to the bombing.

I'm not even sure he was getting death threats or if he even had a facebook. I mistook him for another person identified on Reddit. When it said 'student' I figured it was about the kid in the blue track suit.

There was another student athlete from the area who went and turned himself in to the police to clear his name because eveyone thought it was him. He is Turkish and his father has a store. His father was afraid to go to work and the kid was afriad to go to school or out of the house.
I have not heard a thing about them since another ID was made. I assume he was released.

If you are referring to Salah Brahoum, the New York Post apologized for accusing him and running his picture front page. That's who I thought this thread was originally about.

He had a successful software business and he killed himself? That does not make any sense. He must have been killed. He very well could have been the original suspect they arrested and were going to tell people about before changing their minds.
