it says they were speaking Arabic, but I'm remembering the 'Muslims speaking Arabic' on a plane after 9/11 who turned out to be turbaned United States citizen Sikhs so I'm waiting for more:

It is also not clear if they were escorted off because they were suspect or just had committed the crime of speaking a foreign language in front of people.

People are gun shy after 9-11. In their guts they know nothing has been resolved and they are right. Of course, the answer is to stop interfering in other countries' affairs that have not attacked us, nor pose any immediate threat, and to get our troops out of their countries.
